Day's film career began during the latter part of the Classical Hollywood Film era with the 1948 film Romance on the High Seas, and its success sparked her twenty-year career as a motion picture actress. She starred in a series of successful films, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. She played the title role in Calamity Jane (1953), and starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) with James Stewart. Her most successful films were the bedroom comedies she made co-starring Rock Hudson and James Garner, such as Pillow Talk (1959) and Move Over, Darling (1963), respectively. She also co-starred in films with such leading men as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, David Niven, and Rod Taylor. After her final film in 1968, she went on to star in the CBS sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968–1973).
Day was usually one of the top ten singers between 1951 and 1966. As an actress, she became the biggest female film star in the early 1960s, and ranked sixth among the box office performers by 2012. In 2011, she released her 29th studio album, My Heart, which became a UK Top 10 album featuring new material. Among her awards, Day has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legend Award from the Society of Singers. In 1960, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and in 1989 was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush followed in 2011 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. She was one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, on Monday 13th May 2019.

Doris Day Lyrics

Is like the first time
Each time you're near me
The thrill is new
And there is nothing
That I wouldn't do for
The rare delight of the sight
Of you for
The more I see you,
The more I want you
Somehow this feeling
Just grows and grows
With every sigh
I become more mad about you
More lost without you and so it goes
Can you imagine how much I love you?
The more I see you as years go by
I know the only one for me can only be you
My arms won't free you, my heart won't try
I know the only one for me
Can only be you
My arms won't free you,
My heart won't try
In Doris Day's hit song "More I See You," the singer expresses their overwhelming love for someone. The lyrics reveal that every time the singer sees this person, it feels like the first time, and every moment with them excites them. The lyrics suggest that the singer's feelings for this person keep growing and growing with every moment they spend together. As the years go by, the singer's love for this person only becomes stronger, and they realize that there's no other person they'd want to spend their life with.
The song employs repetition to emphasize the singer's feelings for the person they love. The line "The more I see you" is repeated throughout the song, creating a sense of longing and desire. The lyrics use imagery to convey the depth of the singer's feelings. The words "rare delight" and "thrill" suggest that the singer finds immense joy in being near the person they love.
One interpretation of the song is that the singer is describing a love that only gets stronger with time. The repeated line "The more I see you" suggests that the singer's love is not just based on physical attraction but on a deeper connection with this person. The lyrics also suggest that the singer is willing to do anything for the person they love. The words "nothing" and "wouldn't do" illustrate the singer's willingness to sacrifice for their love.

More than the greatest love the world has known
This is the love that I give to you alone
More than the simple words I try to say
I only live to love you more each day.
More than you'll ever know
My arms long to hold you so
My life will be in your keeping
Waking, sleeping, laughing, weeping.
Longer than always is a long, long time
But far beyond forever, you'll be mine
I know I never lived before
And my heart is very sure
No one else could love you more.
Longer than always is a long, long, long time
But far beyond forever, you'll be mine
I know I never lived before
And my heart is very sure
No one else could love you more.
Sé que nunca he vivido antes
Y mi corazón está muy seguro
Nadie más podría amarte más.
Más aún que siempre es un largo, largo, largo tiempo
Pero más allá que por siempre, serás mío
Sé que nunca he vivido antes
Y mi corazón está muy seguro
Nadie más podría amarte más.

Written by Riz Ortolani & Nino Oliviero, English lyrics by Norman Newell, it was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song. Ironically it's from the soundtrack of a bizarre Italian documentary "Mondo cane" (1962; English: A Dog's World) the film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Danish orchestra leader Kai Winding had a international (instrumental) hit remaining on the charts for months. Vic Dana's original vocal release charted at #42 in the US.

I saw clips of that nutty movie No thank you. The soundtrack song is beautiful.

Riz Ortolani made some really good music but they’re always in the creepiest/desensitizing, gory films 🎥 likeCannibal Holocaust. The music fills your heart with melancholy yet the film makes you want to throw up.
