Day's film career began during the latter part of the Classical Hollywood Film era with the 1948 film Romance on the High Seas, and its success sparked her twenty-year career as a motion picture actress. She starred in a series of successful films, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. She played the title role in Calamity Jane (1953), and starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) with James Stewart. Her most successful films were the bedroom comedies she made co-starring Rock Hudson and James Garner, such as Pillow Talk (1959) and Move Over, Darling (1963), respectively. She also co-starred in films with such leading men as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, David Niven, and Rod Taylor. After her final film in 1968, she went on to star in the CBS sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968–1973).
Day was usually one of the top ten singers between 1951 and 1966. As an actress, she became the biggest female film star in the early 1960s, and ranked sixth among the box office performers by 2012. In 2011, she released her 29th studio album, My Heart, which became a UK Top 10 album featuring new material. Among her awards, Day has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legend Award from the Society of Singers. In 1960, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and in 1989 was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush followed in 2011 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. She was one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, on Monday 13th May 2019.

Pillow Talk
Doris Day Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Another night of hearin' myself
Talk, talk, talk, talk
Wonder how it would be
To have someone to pillow talk with me
I wonder how
I wonder who
Another night of bein' alone with pillow talk
When it's all said and done
Two heads together can be better than one
That's what they say
They always say
All I do is talk to my pillow
Talk to my pillow, talk to my pillow
All I do is talk to my pillow
Talk about the boy I'm gonna marry
Someday, somehow, somewhere, sometime
Pillow talk, pillow talk
Another night of gettin' my fill of pillow talk
My pillow and I both agree
There must be a boy, must be a pillow
Must be a pillow talkin' boy for me
I hope I'm right
I'd better be right
Oh, there must be a pillow talkin' boy for me
(We hope she's right)
(She'd better be right)
(There must be a boy)
There must be a boy
There must be a boy
There must be a boy
There must
be a boy
Doris Day's song "Pillow Talk" is a classic example of a romantic ballad that captures the emotions and desires of a young woman longing for love. The song is full of longing, hope, and desire as the singer talks to her pillow, sharing her thoughts and dreams about a lover she hopes to meet someday. The lyrics express her wish for a partner who will listen to her, understand her, and share her life.
The song's opening lines, "Pillow talk, pillow talk, another night of hearing myself talk," illustrate the woman's loneliness and her need for companionship. She longs for someone to pillow talk with her, to share her hopes and dreams, and to understand her innermost thoughts. The lyrics express the idea that two people can be better than one, and that being alone is not enough.
The song is a classic example of a love ballad that captures the essence of romantic longing and desire. The song's lyrics are simple yet powerful, and the melody is hauntingly beautiful. It captures the emotions of a young woman searching for love and companionship, and expresses the hope and longing that come with that search.

This song was stuck in my head for about two days straight ; probably due to the fact that I watched the movie three times in about a week. It was so great, just like Doris Day. :)

This is not only a all time classic, but has also influenced millions of ladies to pursue a career, before settling into marrage. Much of the success of this film is because of the lighthearted tone of script, by Stanley Shapiro, and the acting, as Hudson approaches Doris in a playful way, that is never mean spirited or crude. Modern film makers could take a lesson from Day, who co produced this film and talked Rock into playing opposite her..
