Maman cet étrange sentiment
Maman cette envie qui me prend
De rire et de pleurer
De crier de chanter ?
Maman rien n'est plus comme avant
Maman je sens confusément
Maman comme un enchantement
Jusque dans mes pensées
C'est comme un torrent
Qui coule en grondant
C'est comme un volcan
Un cri de géant
{Refrain:}
Il n'y a qu'à toi
Que je puisse dire tout ça
J'ai besoin de toi
Je t'en prie, aide-moi
Dis-moi pourquoi
Pourquoi je suis comme ça ?
Maman est-ce un envoûtement ?
Maman inexorablement
Maman j'ai comme un sentiment
Que ma vie va changer
Que tout va exploser
Maman c'est un ravissement
Maman il faut rester violent
Maman c'est un bouleversement
De tout ce que j'ai fait
De tout ce que j'aimais
C'est comme un bonheur
Si fort qu'il fait peur
C'est comme un printemps
Qui dure tout le temps
{au Refrain}
Maman {ad lib}
The song "Maman" by French singer Dorothée addresses a daughter's confusion, mixed emotions, and newfound feelings that are taking over her entire being. She turns to her mother, the only person she feels comfortable talking to about it, to help her understand what is happening to her. The daughter asks her mother questions like "what is this torment?" and "is it an enchantment?" to which her mother responds with care and understanding. The daughter tries to explain the torrent of emotions within her that are like a volcano, a giant's cry, a disruption, and like a fear-inducing happiness that she's never felt before.

Merci infiniment, Dorothee

1986, arf, j'avais dix ans...
