Do Re Mi
Dorsey Lee Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
My over there was passing me
She got a whole lot of rhythm when she walk
& I can hear rhythm when she talk
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
Forget about the do-re & think about me
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
She ain't Mona Lisa as I can see
But I don't care, she looks good to me
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
Forget about the do-re & think about me
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
I can learn to love you, yes sir-ee
I may sound crazy, but it's so fine
Tell me pretty baby you're goin' high
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
Forget about the do-re & think about me
(instrumental)
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
Let's get together & make whoopee
A-B-C-D-E-F-G
Cupid shootin' arrows 3 by 3
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
Forget about the do-re & think about me
(repeat & fade):
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
Forget about the do-re & think about me
A-B-C-D-E-F-G
Forget about the do-re & think about me
The lyrics of Dorsey Lee's song "Do Re Mi" appear to be a playful nod to the musical scale. The singer uses the syllables of the scale to convey his desire for a woman he sees passing by. He notes that she exudes rhythm in her walk and even in how she speaks. The refrain "forget about the do-re & think about me" indicates that his attention is solely focused on her and her captivating presence.
The singer doesn't know who this woman is, but he doesn't really care. In fact, he claims that she looks good to him, even if she isn't as famous as the Mona Lisa. He is so smitten with her that he even says he can learn to love her. The song ends on a lighthearted note, with the singer suggesting that he and the woman should "get together and make whoopee," while also referencing the alphabet and Cupid's arrows.
Overall, "Do Re Mi" is a catchy, upbeat song that celebrates the joys of love and attraction. The lyrics cleverly play with the musical scale and use it as a metaphor for desire and connection.

What did he says??
@kyawkyawwin1
Crap compared to Dusty.
@johndaniels1923
you must be joking
@countrypaul
@@johndaniels1923 - agreed. Dusty's really good, but this is really better. Lee Dorsey sang as naturally as breathing.
@ab77blues
Why can't we enjoy both without a snide comparison?
@jameshefferan773
This is one of the few times that Dusty missed the mark. Her version is a bit vanilla, while this just has that great New Orleans vibe.
