Doubting Thomas could be seen as kind of a dry run for Key and Goettel's next ex-Skinny Puppy project, dOWNLOAD. However, Doubting Thomas trades dOWNLOAD's heavy for the abstract.

Doubting Thomas released two records - the full-length album "The Infidel", and the accompanying EP "Father Don't Cry." In 2007 both were revamped on a 2-Disc set marked "Special Edition 20 Year Anniversary," which included previously unreleased material.

Doubting Thomas has the best use of movie lines/samples I've ever heard. They replace the need for actual lyrics. And they're chilling. "Then with your permission, I will enlighten you!" I don't even know what that's from, and I really don't care. It gives the verbal side of your brain such a delicious jolt.

Such a great song. Most of these movie lines in this song come from "The Pit And The Pendulum" circa 1961. It is based on Edgar Allen Poe's masterpiece of the same name.

Rarities should be upped because the music would easily disappear into the folds of time otherwise. When a person creates something - regardless of "good" or "bad" quality, it adds to the proverbial pile. The pile that one day will cover up the likes of all musicians and their legacies. Up this fucking music, and then buy the fucking album if you like it.

The LP single of this has the wrong RPM speeds on it. "Father Don't Cry" was supposed to be 45 RPM, but was marked 33 RPM, and the opposite side with "Turn a New Leaf" read 45 RPM instead of 33 RPM. With some samples being pitched up ("begging me to kill you" for example) I couldn't tell it was playing too slow.

Eventually, I got a suspicion that it was mislabeled, as the B side was so slow and switched it up. I had no idea what the actual speed was until I bought the CD version later on.

@BoraxMan25 maybe you heard the longer mix that was on the single? It's been forever since I have heard that version but I know it had more samples and longer samples than the album version (which is this one).

When cEvin' and Ogre manage to produce something worth spending money on...I'l consider this argument. How the quality of their music doubled when Goettel joined, and was cut in half after he died....makes it obvious who the real workhorse was, who the fifth wheels were.
