Doug has a national and international ministry working with children and song writing. In 1996 his song ""We Want To See Jesus Lifted High"" was chosen as the theme for the global March for Jesus event and was sung in 176 countries by some 25 million people. Doug has also worked with singer / song writer Noel Richards for over ten years and as well as playing lead guitar for him he has also co-written a number of songs with him that have featured on Noel's albums.
Doug has a vision to see Jesus lighting a flame in the hearts of children that will spread like wildfire. Doug's heart is to present the gospel in fun, lively ways and to challenge children to build their friendship with God and to realise how important they are to him. He uses action songs, puppets, tricks, juggling and all manner of other exciting visual methods to catch the children's imagination.
With his team he travels the UK widely putting on family praise parties, seminars and ""adult"" celebrations as well as running the 8-11's work at conferences including Spring Harvest which this year attracted up to 875 children per day!
He also runs his own annual "Duggies Summer Weeks" which this year was attended by over 1000 mainly unchurched children and young people aged 5-14 during two weeks in August. Doug strives for quality in all that he does and the summer weeks programme included Go karting, Lazer quest, wildlife encounters, the infamous ""gunge tank"", quad bikes, numerous bouncy activities and stacks more.
Doug wants children to thoroughly enjoy themselves at his events - but also to meet with God in powerful ways, and be equipped to be used by God to see amazing things happen.
Doug has also recorded several albums for "Kingsway Music" which feature fun action songs, anointed adult worship tracks and high energy dance tracks.
You Won't Get To Heaven On The Back Of A Camel
Doug Horley Lyrics

And you won't get to heaven on a sheep
You won't get to heaven on a double decker bus
And you won't get to heaven in a jeep
A pogo stick will only make you feel sick
And you can't drive there in a car
A rocket in your pocket might make you see stars
But it sure won't get you that far
There's only one way (one way), one way (one way)
You can get to heaven, oh yeah
There's only one way (one way), one way (one way)
That's through God's son Jesus
He's the only way
You won't get to heaven by looking real good
And you won't get to heaven ‘cos you're slick
You won't get to heaven by jumping from a plane
And flapping your arms real quick
A flight or a kite or an elastic band
Might whizz you through the air
Or you could scuttle in a shuttle right over the moon
But it still won't get you there
You won't get to heaven by saying you're a Christian
And you won't get to heaven ‘cos you're good
You won't get to heaven just by going to a church
Though many, many think you could
A mum or a dad or a sister who loves Jesus
Won't get you there it's true
You're in favour with the Saviour but this you gotta know
You need to find him just for you
The song "You Won't Get to Heaven on the Back of a Camel" by Doug Horley is a lively and humorous song about the different things one could attempt to reach heaven, and the only way that one can actually get there. The lyrics suggest that riding on a camel, a sheep, a double-decker bus, a jeep, or even a pogo stick won't get you to heaven. Likewise, attempting to make the journey by looking good, being slick, jumping from a plane, flapping your arms, or even traveling in a rocket won't get you there either. The only way to reach heaven, according to the song, is through Jesus, God's son.
The song is a playful reminder that there are no shortcuts to heaven and that salvation comes only through one's faith and acceptance of Jesus Christ. While the song uses a lighthearted tone and catchy lyrics, it ultimately carries an important message about the need to seek out a personal relationship with Jesus.
Overall, "You Won't Get to Heaven on the Back of a Camel" is a fun and upbeat song that encourages listeners to reflect on their own spiritual journeys and the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus.
