The Time Has Come
Doul Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Iʼm a motherfucking star.
Thatʼs why I shed light on thedarkness I come from.
Every day, a star is born. Hope my time isn't too far.
Thereʼs no room in my room in my heart right now.
Iʼm writing lyrics every day.

Iʼm so wild, but Iʼm so sweet,
And Iʼm so coarse, but Iʼm so sturdy.
Iʼm so wild, but Iʼm so sweet,
And Iʼm so coarse, but Iʼm so sturdy.

They all know, I know who you are. Like a key to a car
They canʼt know, they never thought I would be a fuckinʼ star.
They all know, I know who you are.
Yeah, things went a little too far.
They canʼt know, they never thought I would be a fuckinʼ star.

I am a fuckin' rock star.
My stage is international
I wonʼt look back, Iʼm like a shark.
Only looking forward.
I had opinions that didnʼt matter.
Thereʼs just something wrong with you.
I had a brain that felt like a glittering star.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Doul's song "The Time Has Come" are centered around self-confidence and determination to make a name for oneself in the music industry. The lyricist portrays themselves as a "motherfucking star" who has risen from a place of darkness and is now shedding light on it through their music. They also mention that every day, a star is born and they hope their time to shine isn't too far away. The line "there's no room in my heart right now" suggests that the singer is completely focused on their music and success, with no space for distractions or emotions.

The repeated line "I'm so wild, but I'm so sweet, and I'm so coarse, but I'm so sturdy" seemingly describes the singer's multifaceted personality and the different sides of their character. They also declare their knowledge of others' true selves, like a key to a car, and that they never thought the singer would become a star. The singer is proud of their success and has no plans of looking back, with their stage being international, and they liken themselves to a shark, always looking forward.

The lyrics show a self-assured and somewhat aggressive attitude, but at the same time, there is vulnerability and the need to prove oneself amidst doubters. Overall, the message seems to be that the time has come for this "fuckin' star" to shine and conquer the music industry.

"Time Has Come Today"

Time has come today
Young hearts can go their way
Can't put it off another day
I don't care what others say
They say we don't listen anyway
Time has come today, hey

The room has changed today
I have no place to stay
I'm thinking about the subway
Mu love has blown away
My tears have come and gone
Oh'Lord I got to run
I got no home
No, I have no home

Now the time has come
Nowhere (place) to run
Might get burned up by the sun
But I'll have my fun
I've been loved, pushed (put) aside
I've been crushed by tumbling tide
And my soul has been psychedelicized

Now the time has come
There are things to realize
Time has come today
Time has come today

What an awesome cover of this song! I wished that I had paid more attention to this band's music as I was around in the era that they performed.
I am saddened by their passing. Their music lives on!

Ramones was heroes in latin America. Here in Brazil, we loved.

I started writing poetry at 12 and got serious at 13. My English teacher noticed my talent and we talked....music, lyrics were my first inspirations. And he told me he saw the Chambers Bros. and they played Time....Twice! Cool the Ramones still had some of that ole Time left in them when they came on the scene and did their own thing. 1983...a Merman I should turn to be, Too bad they didn't give that song a go. Gabba-Gabba-Hey! Oh well.
