Too Late
Dover Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

(I'm trying to clear up my head)
ls somehing wrong?
You're looking kind of pale
Who could've predicted the bitterest of
ends?
You and I are like some kind of mess
It's like I'm the Icing on some sort of cake
It's too late yeah! Yeah!
It's too late yeah! Yeah!

Now look me up or look me down
It don't really matter
It's all over now
Second floor, apartment to the left
That's my invitation. Let's see what you get

It's too late yeah! Yeah!
It's too late yeah! Yeah!

I would've paid so much Money for you
I would've done anything in truth

Now that you mention the state of my mind
I'd rather lock up myself tonight

(It's like this... You've drive me insane)

It' too late yeah! Yeah!
It' too late yeah! Yeah!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to the song "Too Late" by Dover are open to interpretation, but one can assume that the singer is addressing another person who has caused them some sort of distress. The first two lines have the singer asking if the other person can tell that something is wrong, implying that the singer is upset but trying to hide it. The line "you and I are like some kind of mess" suggests that they were once close, but now their relationship is disordered and chaotic.

The singer then says "it's like I'm the icing on some sort of cake," which could mean that they feel like they are being taken advantage of, or that they feel like they are just a superficial addition to the other person's life. The chorus, "it's too late yeah! Yeah!" is repeated, emphasizing that whatever has happened between them is irreversible.

In the second verse, the singer tells the other person that it doesn't matter how they look, as the relationship is over. They give the other person an invitation to their apartment, but it is unclear whether it is meant sincerely or sarcastically. The line "let's see what you get" implies that the other person won't be getting anything good. The chorus is repeated again, and the singer laments that they would have done anything for the other person in the past.

The final lines suggest that the other person has driven the singer to madness, and now they want to be alone. Overall, the song seems to express regret and frustration over a failed relationship, and a sense that it is too late to fix things between the two people involved.

ABRIL
Sábado 11-Valencia - Sala Wah Wah
Sábado 18 - Bruselas ( Be ) - Sala VK
MAYO
Sábado 9 - Saanen ( Suiza ) Mad Muni TentFestival
Sábado 15 - Valladolid - Reverse (Teatro Zorrilla)
Jueves 21 - Barcelona - Sala Bikini
SEPTIEMBRE
4/5 Guadalajara - Festival Gigante.

Saludos.

¡Grandes Dover!

Dover siempre han molado.

J. Cobain
