Down With Webster formed in Toronto in the late 90's, beginning as a high school talent show jam band. They recently signed with Universal Motown in April 2009.
In 2007, after multiple demo releases, they released their self titled album and it was available on the Kill The 8 store, as well as merch.
And in 2008, Down With Webster won the Rogers Mobile/Universal Music best unsigned artist in Canada award, and in 2009 both KISS front man Gene Simmons and Timbaland expressed interest in signing the band to their respective labels. According Timbaland, "That group is the most amazing and creative, innovative group that’s going to come out in 2010."
The band's debut EP Time to Win Vol. 1 was released on October 6, 2009, and the single "Rich Girl$" debuted on the Canadian Hot 100 at #47 for the week of October 24, 2009, and peaked at #21 on January 9, 2010. In August 2010, the band released "Whoa is Me" as their last single on the "Time to Win, Vol. 1" EP.
From mid-October 2010 through late November, Down with Webster toured with 3oh!3 on the "Streets of Gold" tour. They gained a large American following during this. After the tour, the boys arrived back to Toronto to finish recording their follow-up album, "Time to Win, Vol. 2" before their own headlining tour, "Wintour 2011". The album was released on November 1st, 2011
The band is from the Beaches neighbourhood in Toronto and have played the Beaches International Jazz Festival from 2003-2005 and can be seen walking around this neighbourhood in the summer.
They released their final album "Party For Your Life" on January 28th, 2014 to rave reviews. Amanda Hather of Canadian Beats gave the album a 4.5/5, saying "Whether you are a fan of all of the genres that Down With Webster somehow manage to mix into their songs, there is something for everyone on this album." Davina Sinnatamby of Tangible Sound gave the album a 4/5, closing her review with "So if you feel like a shot of something stronger that caffeine or alcohol; I'd recommend listening to this whole album. The songs don't just make you want to get up and dance; the fast rhythms, smooth rhymes and poetic lyrics make you want to live forever."
After a few years without producing any music or performing any live shows, the band posted on their Facebook on June 2, 2017, that they would be going on a hiatus. Gillett, Armes, Hunter, and Martino formed a new band called Honors. Bucky has started a new project called Karter Park with original Down with Webster member Kierscey. This place about to blow and your the dynamite
Your friends know, all of them, come around everybody needs a guardian
I′m through feeling lost cause I found you
The people around you surround you (yeaaah, yeaaahh)
(Just like the halo on your head)
You′re everybody′s angel, everybody's angel, everybody′s angel in disguise
You can make a dark room turn to light, you can bring this whole place back to life
You're everybody′s angel, everybody's angel, everybody′s angel
Black dress, fits right
It's your world, you've been having it all nice
Me too, that′s what I like
Your silhouette′s the cigarette and I'm the light
I′m through feeling lost cause I found you
The people around you surround you (yeaaah, yeaaahh)
(Just like the halo on your head)
You're everybody′s angel, everybody's angel, everybody′s angel in disguise
You're everybody's angel, everybody′s angel, everybody′s angel in disguise
You can make a dark room turn to light, you can bring this whole place back to life
You're everybody′s angel, everybody's angel, everybody′s angel
You're not just another piece in a puzzle
Just another wheel in the spoke
This world revolves around you baby
They can′t say that it don't
So let's get lost in the moment, just tell me you down, we′re the in crowd,
Crowd in find us in the crowd and I know that
(The people around you surround you)
But let′s keep it real you keep it unreal, unbelievable, unachievable
(I'm through feeling lost cause I found you)
And I know I′m not the only one but you owe me one
You're everybody′s angel, everybody's angel, everybody′s angel in disguise
You're everybody's angel, everybody′s angel, everybody′s angel in disguise
You can make a dark room turn to light, you can bring this whole place back to life
You're everybody′s angel, everybody's angel, everybody′s angel
But when will you be my...
(When will you be my... angel in disguise)
The lyrics of Down with Webster's song "Everybody's Angel" convey a sense of admiration and awe towards a captivating individual who is described as an angel in disguise. The song begins by contrasting the imagery of a white dress and a black tie, symbolizing both purity and elegance, with the idea of the place about to "blow" and the singer being the "dynamite." This juxtaposition highlights the impact this person has on their surroundings and how they are seen as a guiding presence for others.
The chorus emphasizes the idea of this individual being everyone's angel, someone who has the power to bring light to a dark room and breathe life into a stagnant environment. They are seen as a source of hope and inspiration, and their presence is transformative. The lyrics also acknowledge the unique qualities of this person, describing them as someone who stands out and has the ability to make others feel special and important. The line "Just like the halo on your head" further reinforces the angelic imagery and the idea of this person being a symbol of goodness and guidance.
The second verse continues to highlight the impact of this individual, with the mention of a black dress fitting right and the comparison of their silhouette to a cigarette and the singer being the light. This imagery suggests that they complement each other perfectly and that this person brings a sense of excitement and energy into the singer's life. The lyrics also express a sense of gratitude for finding this person and the feeling of being lost dissipating because of their presence.
Overall, "Everybody's Angel" celebrates the transformative influence of a captivating individual who brings light and life to those around them, portraying them as a source of inspiration and guidance.
