Down With Webster formed in Toronto in the late 90's, beginning as a high school talent show jam band. They recently signed with Universal Motown in April 2009.
In 2007, after multiple demo releases, they released their self titled album and it was available on the Kill The 8 store, as well as merch.
And in 2008, Down With Webster won the Rogers Mobile/Universal Music best unsigned artist in Canada award, and in 2009 both KISS front man Gene Simmons and Timbaland expressed interest in signing the band to their respective labels. According Timbaland, "That group is the most amazing and creative, innovative group that’s going to come out in 2010."
The band's debut EP Time to Win Vol. 1 was released on October 6, 2009, and the single "Rich Girl$" debuted on the Canadian Hot 100 at #47 for the week of October 24, 2009, and peaked at #21 on January 9, 2010. The follow-up single "Your Man" was released to Canadian radio stations in January 2010. Since then it has peaked at #12 on the Canadian Hot 100, outperforming their debut single on the chart. In August 2010, the band released "Whoa is Me" as their last single on the "Time to Win, Vol. 1" EP.
From mid-October 2010 through late November, Down with Webster toured with 3oh!3 on the "Streets of Gold" tour. They gained a large American following during this. After the tour, the boys arrived back to Toronto to finish recording their follow-up album, "Time to Win, Vol. 2" before their own headlining tour, "Wintour 2011". The album was released on November 1st, 2011
The band is from the Beaches neighbourhood in Toronto and have played the Beaches International Jazz Festival from 2003-2005 and can be seen walking around this neighbourhood in the summer.
They released their final album "Party For Your Life" on January 28th, 2014 to rave reviews. Amanda Hather of Canadian Beats gave the album a 4.5/5, saying "Whether you are a fan of all of the genres that Down With Webster somehow manage to mix into their songs, there is something for everyone on this album." Davina Sinnatamby of Tangible Sound gave the album a 4/5, closing her review with "So if you feel like a shot of something stronger that caffeine or alcohol; I'd recommend listening to this whole album. The songs don't just make you want to get up and dance; the fast rhythms, smooth rhymes and poetic lyrics make you want to live forever."
After a few years without producing any music or performing any live shows, the band posted on their Facebook on June 2, 2017, that they would be going on a hiatus. Gillett, Armes, Hunter, and Martino formed a new band called Honors. Bucky has started a new project called Karter Park with original Down with Webster member Kierscey. Ferris has built a following as a DJ in Toronto.
One in a Million
Down with Webster Lyrics

I'm the real thing, I can see it
Like a fire in the night, so brilliant
I'm a standout, no concealing it,
And I'm feeling like I'm one in a million,
I'm the one and six figures,
Hold it down like I got six fingers,
Jump around jump out your sneakers,
And all of my time is prime,
You ain't never seen shit like mine,
Light the fuse from the way I shine,
Just one spark will blow your mind
(mind, mind, mind, mind, mind, mind)
Everyone, everyone wants something,
There's a million in one, a million in one,
But I'm the one in a million, the one in a million,
You can be a stray star, underneath the radar,
Diamond in the rough, but that's still not enough,
I'm the one in a million, in a million,
I'm feeling like I'm one in a million,
I'm the real thing, I can see it,
Like a fire in the night, it's so brilliant,
I'm a standout, no concealing it,
And I'm feeling like I'm one in a million,
Shake it up and then spray that,
Celebrate when we play that,
This real deal, can't fake that,
I'm the needle up in this haystack,
When I drop it hold up your open hand,
For the drop in the ocean that broke the dam,
I'm overflowing on every jam,
And we made it rock from one grain of sound,
Now, go, go,
Time to show them who we all really are,
Go, go, it's not dizziness, but you're seeing stars,
So, so, what's a star to a comet that's burning across the sky,
And tonight I'm so supersonic,
(sonic, sonic, sonic, sonic, sonic, sonic)
Everyone, everyone wants something,
There's a million in one, a million in one,
But I'm the one in a million, the one in a million,
You can be a stray star, underneath the radar,
Diamond in the rough, but that's still not enough,
I'm the one in a million, in a million,
I'm feeling like I'm one in a million,
(i'm the one in a million)
(i'm the one in a million)
I'm feeling like I'm one in a million.
The lyrics to One in a Million by Down with Webster illustrate a sense of confidence and uniqueness. The singer feels like they are one of a kind and they cannot be replicated or imitated. From the very beginning, the lyrics demonstrate a certainty in oneself as the singer says they are "the real thing" and that they "can see it." They also use the metaphor of a "fire in the night" to describe their brilliance.
The second verse continues this expression of self-confidence and uniqueness with the artist using clever wordplay and metaphors to convey their message. The line "I'm the one and six figures" is a play on words referencing the phrase "one in a million" as well as the fact that the artist is exceptional and worth millions. Right at the very beginning I got chills. Such an amazing song. Anami Vice, Marianas Trench, Down With Webster. All of my favourite bands. Yup, pretty proud to be Canadian.
