Down With Webster formed in Toronto in the late 90's, beginning as a high school talent show jam band. They recently signed with Universal Motown in April 2009.
In 2007, after multiple demo releases, they released their self titled album and it was available on the Kill The 8 store, as well as merch.
And in 2008, Down With Webster won the Rogers Mobile/Universal Music best unsigned artist in Canada award, and in 2009 both KISS front man Gene Simmons and Timbaland expressed interest in signing the band to their respective labels. According Timbaland, "That group is the most amazing and creative, innovative group that’s going to come out in 2010."
The band's debut EP Time to Win Vol. 1 was released on October 6, 2009, and the single "Rich Girl$" debuted on the Canadian Hot 100 at #47 for the week of October 24, 2009, and peaked at #21 on January 9, 2010. The follow-up single "Your Man" was released to Canadian radio stations in January 2010. Since then it has peaked at #12 on the Canadian Hot 100, outperforming their debut single on the chart. In August 2010, the band released "Whoa is Me" as their last single on the "Time to Win, Vol. 1" EP.
From mid-October 2010 through late November, Down with Webster toured with 3oh!3 on the "Streets of Gold" tour. They gained a large American following during this. After the tour, the boys arrived back to Toronto to finish recording their follow-up album, "Time to Win, Vol. 2" before their own headlining tour, "Wintour 2011". The album was released on November 1st, 2011
The band is from the Beaches neighbourhood in Toronto and have played the Beaches International Jazz Festival from 2003-2005 and can be seen walking around this neighbourhood in the summer.
They released their final album "Party For Your Life" on January 28th, 2014 to rave reviews. Amanda Hather of Canadian Beats gave the album a 4.5/5, saying "Whether you are a fan of all of the genres that Down With Webster somehow manage to mix into their songs, there is something for everyone on this album." Davina Sinnatamby of Tangible Sound gave the album a 4/5, closing her review with "So if you feel like a shot of something stronger that caffeine or alcohol; I'd recommend listening to this whole album. The songs don't just make you want to get up and dance; the fast rhythms, smooth rhymes and poetic lyrics make you want to live forever."
After a few years without producing any music or performing any live shows, the band posted on their Facebook on June 2, 2017, that they would be going on a hiatus. Gillett, Armes, Hunter, and Martino formed a new band called Honors. Bucky has started a new project called Karter Park with original Down with Webster member Kierscey. Ferris has built a following as a DJ in Toronto.
Staring At the Sun
Down with Webster Lyrics

She's got you on the run now
Lose the smoke and gun boy
Look at what you've done
Stop staring at the sun
She's got you on the run now
Lose the smoke and gun boy
Stop staring at the sun
The sun, stop staring at the sun
The sun, the sun, stop staring at the,
Staring at the sun
Ohhh, you better keep your head down low
Whoa
You got me staring at you
I wanna do what you do
I wanna go where you go
I wanna fly where you flew
I wanna know what you know
I wanna know your name
You're the fortune
You're the fame
You're the fire
You're the flame
I'm a fish in the barrel
You got the shotgun
Been so cool, I want the hot sun
To beat down on me, the heat so long
I hear a 'woo woo' but, uh, can't run
The reason I want that fancy car
The only reason that I'm at the bar
The reason I hear a song that I hate
And all of a sudden I'm dancing hard
She's got you on the run now
Lose the smoke and gun boy
Look at what you've done
Stop staring at the sun
She's got you on the run now
Lose the smoke and gun boy
Look at what you've done
Stop staring at the sun
The sun, stop staring at the sun
The sun, the sun, stop staring at the,
Staring at the sun
Ohhh, you better keep your head down low
Whoa
You're everything that I want
You're everything that I need
I like the way that you shine
I want you shining with me
But every time I get close
You keep on burning my wings
But it doesn't mean a thing
You're my pleasure
You're my pain
And I keep looking even though it burns
My whole world revolves around her
She goes off like a revolver
She got me wrapped around her trigger finger
Shot to the heart and it's her to blame
Those shots at the bar, you forgot the name
If you get in the fire, you get the flames
I keep on sayin' one thing
You want the house on the hills
You ain't got time for the bills
You got the girl of your dreams
You think she's finally real so no
She's too hot, could you see her in your future?
She's got a man and your a damn common future
Your dumb mind ain't seeing like you used to
Life is what you choose, but I guess it's what you're used to
Oh oh, you better keep your head down low
She's got you on the run now
Lose the smoke and gun boy
Look at what you've done
Stop staring at the sun
She's got you on the run now
Lose the smoke and gun boy
Look at what you've done
Stop staring at the sun
The sun, stop staring at the sun
The sun, the sun, stop staring at the,
Staring at the sun
Ohhh, you better keep your head down low
Whoa
The song Staring at the Sun by Down with Webster is about a man who is infatuated with a woman who has him wrapped around her finger. The woman is dangerous and he knows it, but he can't seem to stay away from her. The first verse suggests that the man is in trouble and needs to stop staring at the sun, which could be a metaphor for his desire for the woman. He is being chased and needs to lose the smoke and gun that he is carrying. The second verse is from the man's perspective, where he wants to be the woman and do what she does. He is fascinated by her and wants to know everything about her. Despite her being dangerous, he can't help but be drawn to her. The chorus repeats the line "she's got you on the run now" which emphasizes the idea that the man can't resist the woman. The song ends with a warning to keep one's head down low, which could be interpreted as a warning to avoid people who are dangerous and could lead to one's demise.
