Down With Webster formed in Toronto in the late 90's, beginning as a high school talent show jam band. They recently signed with Universal Motown in April 2009.
In 2007, after multiple demo releases, they released their self titled album and it was available on the Kill The 8 store, as well as merch.
And in 2008, Down With Webster won the Rogers Mobile/Universal Music best unsigned artist in Canada award, and in 2009 both KISS front man Gene Simmons and Timbaland expressed interest in signing the band to their respective labels. According Timbaland, "That group is the most amazing and creative, innovative group that’s going to come out in 2010."
The band's debut EP Time to Win Vol. 1 was released on October 6, 2009, and the single "Rich Girl$" debuted on the Canadian Hot 100 at #47 for the week of October 24, 2009, and peaked at #21 on January 9, 2010. The follow-up single "Your Man" was released to Canadian radio stations in January 2010. Since then it has peaked at #12 on the Canadian Hot 100, outperforming their debut single on the chart. In August 2010, the band released "Whoa is Me" as their last single on the "Time to Win, Vol. 1" EP.
From mid-October 2010 through late November, Down with Webster toured with 3oh!3 on the "Streets of Gold" tour. They gained a large American following during this. After the tour, the boys arrived back to Toronto to finish recording their follow-up album, "Time to Win, Vol. 2" before their own headlining tour, "Wintour 2011". The album was released on November 1st, 2011
The band is from the Beaches neighbourhood in Toronto and have played the Beaches International Jazz Festival from 2003-2005 and can be seen walking around this neighbourhood in the summer.
They released their final album "Party For Your Life" on January 28th, 2014 to rave reviews. Amanda Hather of Canadian Beats gave the album a 4.5/5, saying "Whether you are a fan of all of the genres that Down With Webster somehow manage to mix into their songs, there is something for everyone on this album." Davina Sinnatamby of Tangible Sound gave the album a 4/5, closing her review with "So if you feel like a shot of something stronger that caffeine or alcohol; I'd recommend listening to this whole album. The songs don't just make you want to get up and dance; the fast rhythms, smooth rhymes and poetic lyrics make you want to live forever."
After a few years without producing any music or performing any live shows, the band posted on their Facebook on June 2, 2017, that they would be going on a hiatus. Gillett, Armes, Hunter, and Martino formed a new band called Honors. Bucky has started a new project called Karter Park with original Down with Webster member Kierscey. Ferris has built a following as a DJ in Toronto.

I built my soul on rock and roll
Then someone told me kids don't rock no more
Oh! oh! oh! oh! it's time to win!
I built my soul on rock and roll
Then someone told me kids don't rock no more
Oh! oh! oh! oh! it's time to win!
I'm on the guest list, you better check for me
Head's heavy but the drink holds it up for me
Keep it up for me, keep it, keep it up for me
I see your hands down, you put them up for me
Chick, don't even pretend that you're not horny
Rhyme like I'm steve tyler, barb wire
The doors are open baby, light my fire
I built my soul on rock and roll
Then someone told me kids don't rock no more
Oh! oh! oh! oh! it's time to win!
I built my soul on rock and roll
Then someone told me kids don't rock no more
Oh! oh! oh! oh! it's time to win!
Oooweee, hit something, 2 points
Oooweee, sip something, 2 points
I'm leaning, I'm melted, I'm winning, bring your helmet
When we say jam like nba jam
Can't buy a bucket, fuck it
Eyes china through my ray bans
Look at me kids, I'm winning
Stop the music, where's my ribbon?
I built my soul on rock and roll
Then someone told me kids don't rock no more
Oh! oh! oh! oh! it's time to win!
I built my soul on rock and roll
Then someone told me kids don't rock no more
Oh! oh! oh! oh! it's time to win!
I'm just a bad little mother showing off
And if you love me, let me see your hands up
And if you hate me why the hell'd you show up
I'm just a bad little mother showing off
Diamonds in my drink tonight
I want diamonds in my drink tonight
I'll get diamonds in my drink tonight
I got diamonds so I drink to life
Lining down the block tonight
Yeah they're lining down the block tonight
Yeah my show is gonna rock tonight
You're going to have to call the cops tonight
I built my soul on rock and roll
Then someone told me kids don't rock no more
Oh! oh! oh! oh! it's time to win!
I built my soul on rock and roll
Then someone told me kids don't rock no more
Oh! oh! oh! oh!
The lyrics of the song Time to Win by Down with Webster is about celebrating success and the joy of winning. The opening lines, "It's time to win! I built my soul on rock and roll, then someone told me kids don't rock no more" suggests that the singer has faced some challenges with their music/career and is now ready to win. The buildup to success is further emphasized when the lyrics talk about getting on the guest list and winning like in the popular NBA game, NBA Jam that has the tagline "He's heating up!", "He's on fire!".
The singer is unapologetic about their behavior, calling themselves "bad little mother" and urging the audience to either love them or hate them but to show their hands either way. The song ends with a powerful statement, "You're going to have to call the cops tonight", suggesting that the singer's music is going to be so good that the crowd will go wild.
Overall, the song is an anthem for anyone who aspires to be successful, enjoy their victories, and live life to the fullest.
