Sadly, most people believe that one of the most popular songs by Downface, Alone, is both written and performed by Alice in Chains or Pearl Jam.
The members of Downface all played in different bands before joining together in February of 1997. They met in Madison, WI through an ad placed in a local music store. With almost identical tastes in music the chemistry was there from the start. Due to the difficulty of establishing a foothold in the music industry from Wisconsin, the band balanced their time over the next year by performing covers as well as writing their own material. In May of '98, they went into Capital Studios in Madison, Wisconsin to record their first CD, Confidence. The disk was released in July of that year. Since then, the band has been playing clubs in Madison, Milwaukee, and several other cities in southern Wisconsin.

Sinking into a dying state
Can't forget the time, the room, the place
Notice the hand as it slowly makes it's way
I Have no…
No room for the dreams I've learned to hate
I Have no…
He's old, he's leaving a lonely place
I can still seem to hear him say
I Have no…
I Have no Regrets
I…Have…No…I Have No Regrets
Thinking as if it were illusion
The love I've learned to embrace
Telling me it is all over
The promise…….My strength
I Have no…
No room for the dreams I've learned to hate
I Have no…
I'm old and leaving this lonely place
I Have no…
If you listen forever you'll hear me say
I Have no…
I Have no Regrets
I…Have…No…I Have No Regrets
I know……
I know the answer lies in my head
No one can ever take that from me
I'm lost……
I've lost my head again
With the cross looming up before me
My lover's eyes below Me
Yet I have no regrets
The lyrics of Downface's song No Regrets depict the thoughts and feelings of an aging man who is looking back on his life. The first verse is about him lying in bed and feeling as if his life is slipping away. He remembers a specific moment in time when he let go of his dreams, and now he has none left. He also hears someone saying "I Have no Regrets" repeatedly. This phrase is the main theme of the song; the man is trying to convince both himself and others that he truly has no regrets about the way he lived his life.
The second verse continues this conversation with himself. He realizes that the love he once felt is over, and he's left with nothing but the memories of it. Although he's lost his dreams and his love, he still asserts that he has no regrets. The bridge explains that the answer to his peace of mind is in his own head and nobody can take that from him. The song ends with the man looking up at a looming cross and his lover's eyes beneath it. He still has no regrets.
Overall, the lyrics of No Regrets is a poignant meditation on life and what it means to have lived it fully. It suggests that there may be no such thing as a completely fulfilled life, but for some, there is the possibility of reaching a state of acceptance without regret.
