The Hills Have Eyes
Dozer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Reborn as the sun,
a shooting star won't take you back...
Millions of years ahead,
somewhere ‘tween now and gone...

Can you hear it call ?
Can you see at all ?
He is the son of evil,
the one that hides in the shadows...
You better watch your back now,
‘cause the hills have eyes,
And now your time has come...

Long gone now it's back,
back from the life from beyond...
Breathing electric light,
nothing can save you now...

Can you hear it call?
Can you see at all?

He is the son of evil,
the one that hides in the shadows...
You better watch your back now,
‘cause the hills have eyes,
And now your time has come...

He is the son of evil,
the one that hides in the shadows...
You better watch your back now,

‘cause the hills have eyes,
And now your time has come...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Dozer's song "The Hills Have Eyes" are quite cryptic, but they suggest a story of someone being hunted down by a malevolent force that lurks in the shadows. The lines "Reborn as the sun, a shooting star won't take you back... Millions of years ahead, somewhere 'tween now and gone..." could be interpreted as a kind of metaphorical journey, where the singer is transcending death and time, but cannot escape the looming presence of this evil force. The repeated questions "Can you hear it call? Can you see at all?" convey a sense of urgency and fear, as if the singer is desperately trying to evade their pursuer.

The lyrics become more specific in the second half of the song, where we learn that the evil force is "the son of evil, the one that hides in the shadows." The warning "you better watch your back now" suggests that the singer is somehow responsible for attracting the attention of this malevolent entity. The line "long gone now it's back, back from the life from beyond" could suggest that this force has been dormant or absent for a long time, but has returned to wreak havoc once again. The final lines "Breathing electric light, nothing can save you now..." paint a bleak picture of the singer's fate, as they are seemingly about to be consumed or destroyed by this malevolent force.

Overall, "The Hills Have Eyes" presents a dark and unsettling story of someone being pursued and ultimately consumed by a malevolent force that they cannot escape.

Just a few shows booked yet, London+Berlin in April at "DesertFest", some answers from their interview: "We will come to Desertfest and kick ass! We haven’t played live in 3 years so we are ready to explode! There’s no plans at the moment to record something new but we have been thinking about releasing an E.P with unreleased stuff. We have some pretty good stuff in our vaults that no one has ever heard. We will just do the Desertfest shows and after that we will see what happens.."
