Anything You Want
Dr. Beat Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Whatever it is I'll get it for you
What do you want, what do you want for your birthday
All I want, I want, want, want is you
If you want a diamond ring to shine, shine, shine
Or a fancy little watch to tell the time, time, time
Every morning all I want to find, find, find is you, I said you
What do you want, whatever it is I'll get it for you
What do you want, all I want, I want, want, want is you
If you want a diamond ring to shine, shine, shine
Or a fancy little watch to tell the time, time, time
Every morning all I want to find, find, find is you, I said you
What do you want, what do you want for Christmas
Whatever it is I'll get it for you
What do you want, what do you want for your birthday
All I want, I want, want, want is...
What do you want, what do you want for Christmas
Whatever it is I'll get it for you
What do you want, what do you want for your birthday
All I want, I want, want, want is...
What do you want, what do you want for Christmas
Whatever it is I'll get it for you
What do you want, what do you want for your birthday
All I want, I want, want, want is...
(Repeat to fade)
The lyrics of Dr. Beat's song "Anything You Want" express a deep desire for love and affection. The singer is offering to do anything they can to make their beloved happy, whether it's buying them a diamond ring or a fancy watch. However, despite all the material possessions they could offer, all they really want is the love and companionship of the person they are singing to.
The repetition of "What do you want" emphasizes the singer's willingness to do anything for their significant other, and the repetition of "All I want, I want, want, want is you" emphasizes the depth of their love and the fact that they don't need anything else to be happy. The use of "Christmas" and "birthday" as specific holidays also emphasizes the idea that this song is about gift-giving and the desire to please one's partner.

Wow...I came here after watching Griselda. .. reminds me of my late uncle...he used to play this songs when I was a little boy. He loved life and lived the best of his youth. Sadly we lost him in 2022 due to diabetes. He was 62 years old. So I bet in the 80s he was in his 20s and living the best of his youth.
