Dr. Bombay Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I live in Tigerland I'm an Indiana man
I used to walk around with a snake in my hand
Dr. Bombay is my name and my father has the same
But everything it changed here in Tigerland

We lived outside Calcutta in a little wooden house
I lived there with my family and 21 cows
But now they all are gone and life is not so fun
But what can you expect here in Tigerland

S.O.S. the tiger took my father
S.O.S. the tiger took my brother
S.O.S. the tiger took my mother
S.O.S. the tiger took my family

One day in the warm jungle the tiger took my snake
It wasn't really fun it was a big mistake
I took my brother's slingshot and shot the tiger down
This is how we do it here in Tigerland

S.O.S. the tiger took my father
S.O.S. the tiger took my brother

S.O.S. the tiger took my mother
S.O.S. the tiger took my family

Overall Meaning

The song S.O.S by Dr Bombay is a story of a man living in Tigerland, who has a family and 21 cows. He has lived there his entire life and is used to walking around with a snake in his hand. He shares the same name as his father, who also lives in Tigerland. However, one day the tigers in the jungle take his entire family- father, brother, mother and that is when everything changes for him.

The singer is helpless and lost without his family, and the tone of the song is melancholic. He is trying to get help by sending out an S.O.S. The chorus of the song is in repetition as he pleads with anyone who can hear him to come to his rescue. Finally, the only family the singer has left is his pet snake. However, even that is taken away from him as the tiger attacks it, making the singer helpless once again. But, he manages to fight back, with his brother's slingshot and finally kills the tiger.

The song tells a heart-wrenching story of loss, but it also shows that the singer finds the strength to fight back against a dangerous predator. It highlights the importance of family and the dangers that come with living in the wild.

I was introduced to Indian spiritual music like this one at Swamy Kurudanandabunda Murudan Iyengar's ashram. The experience opened up my third eye.

I grew up with this dude's music, parents listened to it alot. It's so much different, read hilarious, understanding the language unlike when I was a kid lmao

@taburzblism3287

try replacing the word "took" with the f word. Gives the song a whole new meaning XD and one not meant for kids

@taburz blism Fascinating interpretation

@theRPGmaster

Same here! Now I know English, I didn't back then. But I still remembered how the lyrics sound for all this time, just not what they meant.
