The world of Dr. Manhattan revolves from the raucous, in-your-face melodies of album opener “Big Chomper, Big Chomper,” an introductory track that reveals the band’s skill for drawing intrigue and beauty out of the depths of cacophony, to the lighter, eclectic “Claims Should Echo,” where hooks emerge from places one would never expect them to hide, to the soaring, admirably lovely “Gunpowder: A Ballet,” a song that blossoms with hushed emotion and layers propulsive guitars with graceful keys. The record, which should absolutely be heard as a whole rather than a collection of songs on a disc, dances through high and low, loud and soft, callous and delicate with not-so-reckless abandon, shattering preconceived notions. “We want to ruin everyone’s current thoughts on music and replace them with what we’re doing,” Vombrack says, “which is really organized chaos.”
Dr. Manhattan is a band about proving everything and nothing at the same time. They are about creating music that both lacks intent and is full of intent at the same time. They are a band who instigate their revolution whether you are on board their pirate ship or not, but they want you to be there at the same time. “Now is such a good time to be making music because everyone is so starving for some good,” Engers says. “These are the times when something good happens. This is when everything changes.”
Their latest album, Jam Dreams, was produced by Chris Conley via Cassette Deck Media Conglomerate and was released August 18, 2009.

Texas
Dr. Manhattan Lyrics

For Texas
On the same tracks
That tricked us
By the blue house
We ate there
It had been one month
Just as muffled
But the walkway
That we shoveled
Is now icy
And the longer way
Feels much colder
You left me
Now I'm at home
Where you left me for
Home sweet home
Texas
You left me
For Texas
I'm home alone
There's an indent
In the brown couch
I can't lay there
I am without
A goodbye
I hope they like you
Yeah, I hope they like you
You left me
Now I'm at home
Where you left me for
Home sweet home
Texas,
You left me
For Texas
And I'm home alone
I'm home alone
You left me
For lone star
The gold tops
Of the buildings
I'd like to burn them down
And then lift you from the smoldering
If you hear me
Could you meet me
At the capital?
Or what's left of it?
I burned it down
To keep you
From getting colder
'Cause you left me
Where I'm at home
Where you left me
For home shit home
Fuck Texas
You left me
For Texas
And I'm home alone
I'm home alone
I'm home alone
The song “Texas” by Dr. Manhattan is a melancholic tune that carries a lot of emotions in its lyrics. The song is written in the first person, a voice of a person who has been left behind by a loved one who moved to Texas. The person describes how they feel and the changes that have occurred since the leaving. They were left alone, with the familiar house now feeling colder and more distant, and with an indent in the couch left by the person who used to be there. The singer hopes that the one who left will be happy in their new home and that they will be liked by the people there.
The lyrics contain several symbols, such as the blue house that they ate at, which signifies the warmth and comfort that the two used to share. Also, the image of the gold tops of the buildings, which they want to burn down, is a symbol of their anger towards Texas for taking their loved one away. Towards the end of the song, the singer asks the person who left to meet them at the capital, which is now burned down, to prevent them from getting colder.
