Why Don't You
Dr. No Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Dr. No's "Why Don't You" paint a picture of a relationship that has ended and one person left behind to deal with the aftermath. The song implies that the singer's partner has run out of town, leaving them in an empty house. The emptiness of the house is emphasized through the use of sensory details like the dust on the floor and the cold seeping through the bed. The singer reflects on the memories of their past relationship, lamenting the fact that their partner obviously does not care about them, regardless of their feelings.

The lyrics convey a deep sense of sadness, heartbreak, and desperation. The singer is desperately waiting for their partner's return, hoping they will call and profess their love, and begging questions about what could have been different if they had begged for them to stay. However, it becomes clear throughout the song that the singer is starting to move on from the relationship. They pack up their partner's things, breaking the chains that have held them back emotionally, and declare that it is a new day with the sun now shining.

Overall, the song lyrics are well-written, and the singer delivers them with raw emotion. The lyrics are easy to interpret and connect with, making them relatable for anyone experiencing heartbreak.

So is Sir Roger Moore. Check out the death of Scaramanga, lied in wait and shot by Bond, much like as we see here.

Stromberg's death was also just as ruthless, shot four times, two in the groin, two to the heart

Blofeld's death, as silly as it was on the surface, it was long overdue revenge and no matter what the reason is, picking up a wheelchair-bound archenemy and throwing said wheelchair-bound archenemy down a smokestack is a cold and cruel death.

Locque's death was also as cruel as it comes, kicking a man's car down a cliff and saying said man has no head for heights is cold as it gets.

Octopussy, killing near 100 people in the pre-title sequence alone in the attempt of destroying a plane while evading a surface-to-air missile. Said missile destroyed the plane, killed the colonel he was sent to impersonate, and nearly 100 guys in that hangar

Shooting four guys on a train, no words, no quips, no nothing.

Mowed down 10 guys in Kamal's palace, also pretty cold and cruel.

When one thinks of Bond, one of two men come to mind, the only two men who were knighted for their portrayals of Bond. The two men who one, created the the onscreen character, set the standard as well as the ruthless side of Bond, the other portrayed the charming gentleman side and a reminder that the cold, cruel ruthless side is still there.

When one thinks of Bond, no matter who gets the role in the future, two men will always come to mind: Sir Sean Connery and Sir Roger Moore.

I love that he's playing solitaire. Not some brooding badass looking guy in the shadows sitting quietly for 8 hours. Keeps quietly busy.

@sacredf8

It would've been hilarious if he was playing a chess game by himself.

Andrew Blakey: That's so true. Isn't it a pity that so few 007 scenes have matched this since?

@bg21ist

He's just killing time until it's killing time.
