Alaska
Dr. Phibes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well how're the mountains off the harbor?
And how far are you from shore?
And when your ship,
Oh when your ship comes into port
Would you call?
Oh would you call?

In that cabin in Montana
Was that donkey getting drunk?
Well it's been hell back here in Philadelphia, yeah
And York ain't what it was

Now you know grandpa's washing dishes
He does it when he can
Trying to get this fire started
And I could really use a hand

The dog is barking out back
He thinks he's in the band
Trying to get this fire started
And I could really use a hand

You know I dreamt where
We're at the station
And you asked me if you could go
You know I never really had the chance
To say no

Well it's night time in Alaska
I hear it's dark until the spring
Well it's been hell back here in Philadelphia, yeah
And York ain't what it was

Now you know grandpa's washing dishes
He does it when he can
Trying to get this fire started
And I could really use a hand

The dog is barking out back
He thinks he's in the band
Trying to get this fire started
And I could really use a hand

Well I dreamt where
We're at the station
And you asked me if you could go
You know I never really had the chance

Oh no
To say

Overall Meaning

The song "Alaska" by Dr. Phibes tells a story of a person who is longing for someone who has left for Alaska. The beginning of the song asks about the mountains off the harbor and how far away they are from shore. The person is curious about the new place where their loved one is living now. The chorus is a plea for the person in Alaska to call when their ship comes to port, expressing a desire to reconnect and bridge the distance that has grown between them.

The next verse shifts to a strange scene in Montana, where a donkey is getting drunk in a cabin. The singer then laments about how things have been difficult back home in Philadelphia and that York is not what it used to be. The song then returns to the chorus, emphasizing the distance that has grown between the singer and their loved one in Alaska.

The song's final verse reflects on a dream where the two are at a station, and the person in Alaska asks for permission to leave. The singer never had the chance to say no, which implies that there was a past disagreement or conflict that caused the distance between them. The song ends on a sad note, with the singer feeling helpless and wishing they could turn back time.

There’s a big problem with this story. There is no doctor that will see a patient on the same day , no results that come back in minutes.
There’s usually weeks and weeks of waiting!
So what really happened is, the woman Mark had a date with the night before was really from another PLACE and gave him that skin disorder.
Marking him, selecting him, to be the next one taken!
The doctor, the office, the patients and the police were all from that same PLACE.
Poor mark had no clue as he didn’t realize how strange and unrealistic it is to get into an office to see a doctor on the same day!
Even the emails coming from the other doctors were really from the leaders of that PLACE giving instructions to his capture.
Mark was never seen again!
That woman has 3 other dates set up just this week alone with unsuspecting humans.-

i agree. and to add to your post, let's all consider the following, according to the story (& yes, it was a story):
1. what are the odds that the authorities could find this offending plant on some hiking trail?
2. why was it just this one plant? how come this plant wasn't found elsewhere along the trail and in greater numbers, especially since the video claimed that the plant was native to the area?
3. and since this plant was native to the area, what kind of doctor who lives/practices in the same area would not be aware of the issues that it causes?
4. why was the plant not identified in the video and possibly given a link in the description to warn others?

in short, i give it a "thumbs DOWN"

I love all the Story Changes, the mundane voice with the least effort into inflections... and the little information contradictions among a myriad of other " stylistic choices of writing ".
This guy is one of the Most Talented Writers when the intent is to "Bury The Lead". This guy takes it right to the edge of a form
of Industrial Psychology... You know, the Dominant School of Psychology that people like The King and Princess of Saudi Arabia Pay American, European, Canadian,etc... TV, MOVIES, ADDS, GAMES, MASS MEDIA CONTENT, even Rap, Rock,Country, Movie Producers, Actors, Democratic and RINOs , Congress, Senate, Corrupt Politicians in general.. or the ones they force... to facilitate the Take over and Weaponization if Global Mass Media for the Entire Free World.... China, Gates, Face Book, LONDON, The Ancient Families, and Beyond... etc... Mainly pay the Demonrats to facilitate Surgical Attacks against Business After Business and Industry after Industry... as well as Change Laws, Bills, Regulations,Taxes,History and Much Worse...
Hah,Got Ya... Burying the Lead and Not even Saying It..
Anyway... Mark's Thumb... What Had Happened and why was his one night stand and docs and cops about to add 20lbs of Lead to his Belly.... Implode him like The Thresher.... ? I think I missed the Final Notes.... Cliff, Can you help me out? You always have Great Notes... ,,

Edit: Chick had nothing to do with it. The cops freaked because the docs freaked, once they noticed him out of his quarantine room, the Holes were from "some" unnamed plant he touched on the hike.... It wasn't local plant and was disposed of...
There ya go...
What I wonder though....
Trixxy , from the night after the hike, I have a feeling that if Mark's Monster Finger is So Brutally Contagious, with Physical side affects, so Brutal , that they aren't even mentioned... In anycase.... She must have not called because now she has little holes popping up Everywhere.... Gwar

He had a flesh eating virus. Earlier in the day, Mark went on a hike and then went on a bad date. He touched an infected plant on the hike. The hospital had the medication to treat him and he would have to be isolated. Cops wanted to talk to him in regards to the hike to find out about the trail he had taken in order to close it off. When the cops saw him out of isolation- the cops and doctor panicked. Mark got transferred to a better hospital. Cops found the plant on the trail, tested it for the virus, and then uprooted the plant. Mark eventually got better from the medicine and was ready to go on dates again. Saved you all 15mins. You’re welcome
