Contact
Dragonland Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Of a pulsating light
An unearthly riddle from beyond the starlit sky
Message of unknown design
Heavenly but non-divine
Sent by intelligent minds
An echo through space and time
Fractal figures
Deciphered lines
Stellar visit is nigh
See the fire in the cloudless night
Bright reflections of lights in my eyes
Now we will see, will our contact be
Salvation from afar
A guiding star
A cold observation
By systematical eyes
A delivered transfigure
A calculated demise
Contact with alien life
Heavenly but non-divine
Communication with cosmic minds
They travelled through space and time
See the fire in the cloudless night
Bright reflections of lights in my eyes
Now we will see, will our contact be
Salvation from afar
A guiding star
Complete fulfillment of ancient signs
A swift destruction by higher minds!
See the fire in the cloudless night
Bright reflections of lights in my eyes
Now we will see, that our contact will be
Destruction from afar
One final war...
The lyrics of "Contact" by Dragonland convey a story of a cryptic message from beyond our planet that is received and eventually leads to contact with extraterrestrial life. The mysterious message consists of a pulsating light and a riddle from beyond the starlit sky, but it is deciphered by our intelligent minds in the form of fractal figures and deciphered lines. The message is not divine, but instead, it is a product of communication with cosmic minds. The possibility of seeing fire in the cloudless night and bright reflections of lights in one's eyes further hints at the mystical nature of the contact. As the communication progresses, there arises a question of whether this contact could lead to salvation or destruction, as the lyrics note that it could be both.
However, as the lyrics continue, there is a sense of doom that looms overhead. The systematic eyes observe the delivered transfigure and calculate an inevitable demise. The fulfillment of ancient signs is complete, but it only leads to a swift destruction by higher minds. The final war begins, and the contact that was supposed to be a beacon of hope becomes one of utter destruction.
Overall, the lyrics of "Contact" are a reflection of human curiosity towards the unknown and a warning of the potential consequences that come with it.

When the beat drops on the off-beat at 0:41 I'm somehow transported to my senior year of high school blasting this in my car with absolutely no care in the world. Excellent song.

I have 1 album by Dragonland, Astronomy... and I don't think I need any other albums by them considering this album is near perfection.

Man, this song takes me back to high school, working in the computer lab and listening to pandora radio. Good times.

Dragonland just released one of the best albuns of this type of rock ever, which can fight side by side with the Keepers or Visions. This is probably the best chorus in many years of powr metal.

I like this dudes voice. Not as high as mostly every power metal band tries to do. I think it works well for them, helping give the band a recognisable quiality.

I was 17 when I first started listening to power metal. I went from that to the darker stuff- but bands like Dragonland make for some great, nostalgic, gateway metal.
