Rolling Stone
Drake; The Weeknd Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Now you're thinkin' about it
Girl you're thinkin' about it
What we got here
How we fuckin' got here
They recognize
They just recognize
I'm in a life without a home so this recognition's not enough
I don't care sbout nobody else
'Cause I've been on these streets for too long, too long, too lonh
Baby I've been on this too long

'Cause getting faded too long
Got me on this rolling stone
So I take another hit
Kill another serotonin
With a hand full of beans
And a chest full of weed
Got me singing 'bout a bitch
While I'm blowing out my steam
Yeah I know I got my issues
Why you think I fuckin' flow?
And I'ma keep on smoking 'til I can't hit another note
Ooh but until then

I got you, ooh
Baby I got you, ooh
Until you're used to my face
And my mystery fades
I got you, ooh
So baby love me, oh
Before they all love me
Until you won't love me
Because they all left me
I'll be different
I think I'll be different
I hope I'm not different
And I hope you'll still listen
But until then
Baby I got you
I got you

Girl I still got you
I got you

Overall Meaning

In "Rolling Stone," The Weeknd is reflecting on his success and the lifestyle that he has been living. He acknowledges that people recognize him and his achievements, but that recognition is not enough to provide him with a sense of home or belonging. He expresses that he has been on the streets for too long, which may refer to the time he spent navigating the music industry before achieving mainstream success. He also mentions that he has been getting high for too long, and that lifestyle has led him down a dark path that he cannot escape.

The lyrics illustrate the Weeknd's struggles with addiction and his mental state. He uses drugs to cope with his issues, and he acknowledges that he has issues. The Weeknd refers to himself as a rolling stone, which is someone who moves around often and does not have a permanent home or stable lifestyle. The song also alludes to the difficulties of fame, the fear of losing oneself in the process, and the struggle to find meaningful relationships.

This song is written for the fans who listened for years before there was ā€œthe trilogyā€. Before there was a photo of his face on Google.

This video clip was the first time we ever saw his face so close up.
He was such a mystery to us until this moment.

I remember the first time I saw this clip. I cried in my friends basement upon seeing how beautiful his face is.

This clip for me was the moment I knew he was going to go big. This song is his prediction to fame, reallyā€¦ knowing heā€™ll be different, knowing everyone will love him and hoping his original fans will still love him and still listen.

Donā€™t worry Abel, we still listen.

And we love you so much!

Weā€™re so proud ā¤

*****ā€‹ i read an article that explained the meanings behind all his music videos.and some instagram fanpages so that where i go the info.

Essentially in his first music video which is the rolling stony he warned us that he will get famous

We will get "used to his face " and his mystery will fade. Which is exactly what happened since in one of his snapchats for starboy promotions he said -he is coming out of his shell.

Back when he did the noise and the trilogy he was so underrated so he told us

"So love me before they all love me"

There are also conspiracies about him selling his soul to the devil for fame but thats a whole other thing

@AamanAkhtarAhmed

WIth his fans rejecting his "daytime music", this song makes sense now.
"So, baby, love me, oh
Before they all love me
Until you won't love me, oh
Because they'll all love me, ooh
I'll be different, oh
I think I'll be different, ooh
I hope I'm not different, oh
And I hope you'll still listen"

Well, our boy predicted this.
