In 2006, he married his longtime friend and singing partner, Ellie Holcomb (nee Bannister), and relocated to her hometown of Nashville. In 2007, along with guitarist Nathan Dugger, bassist Rich Brinsfield, and drummer Jon Radford, they formed the band Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors (the name relating to them all living in the same East Nashville area).
Here We Go

Feel like a castaway
This world keeps changing and I can't keep the pace
It's like a race, I didn't know I was running
But there are some things like rudders in a storm,
Someone to keep you warm,
A friend to raise a glass, to take off your mask,
Oh yeah alright, trying to make sense of it all tonight
Oh no, here we go, it won't be the last time
Shouting and struggling and feeling like you're nothing
Trying not to give in, not to take it on the chin,
Trying to wear your thickest set of skin
Music, it makes you feel good, makes you feel understood,
Like you're not alone, you're not a rolling stone,
Not the only one on the road.
Oh yeah alright, trying to make sense of it all tonight
Oh no, here we go, it won't be the last time
It all seemed pretty plausible, but it became impossible,
The promises you made, the ones you got betrayed,
And all the things that you still don't know at the end of the day
In "Here We Go," Drew Holcomb reflects on the ever-changing and sometimes disorienting nature of life. He compares himself to a criminal or a castaway, feeling like he's running a race he never signed up for. He longs for stability in the face of life's storms and struggles, for something or someone to hold onto as a "rudder in a storm." In spite of this ache, however, he acknowledges the power of music to make us feel good and understood, as it reminds us that we are not alone in our journey.
The second verse adds another layer to these themes, as Holcomb sings about the difficulties of life that can make us feel like nothing, like we're constantly struggling just to keep our heads above water. He speaks to the need for resilience, to find the thickest skin possible to weather the storms of life. But again, he finds hope in the power of music--it reminds us that we're not alone, that we're all on this road together.
The chorus functions as a refrain, reminding us that while life may be tough and disorienting, we will keep facing it together, again and again. In short, "Here We Go" is a song that speaks to the complexities of life and the human need for connection and stability, even in the midst of chaos.
