Signing to Island Records through Haqq Islam's University Records imprint, the group released two successful albums, Dru Hill and Enter the Dru, before separating for a period from late 1999 to 2002, during which time Sisqó and Woody released solo albums. While Woody's Soul Music LP was a moderate success in the gospel music industry, Sisqó's debut album, Unleash the Dragon, and its hit singles, "Thong Song" and "Incomplete", were major pop successes, and established Sisqó as a household name outside Dru Hill. Sisqó's second album, Return of Dragon, did not sell as well.
In 2002, by then part of the Def Soul record label, the group reunited and added fifth member Rufus "Scola" Waller to the lineup for their third album, Dru World Order, whose underperformance led to the group being dropped from Def Soul. In 2009, the group signed to Kedar Entertainment Group and released their fourth album, InDRUpendence Day, the following year, with new member Tao taking the place of the again departed Woody.

Tell me what you need
Tell me if it ain't good enough for ya babe
Tell me
Tell me what you want
Tell me what you need
Tell me if it ain't good enough for ya babe
Listen baby
Anything is possible
Anytime you want it girl let me know
I won't ask why just let it flow
Do your thing baby take control
On my knees just say the word
No request is gonna go unheard
I'll take my time when I'm loving you
Foreplay at one won't end till two
Tell me what you want
Tell me what you need
Tell me if it ain't good enough for ya babe
Tell me
Tell me what you want
Tell me what you need
Tell me if it ain't good enough for ya babe
Tell me
Candlelight we're alone
I'm up in your mix if you put me on
Talk to me I'll understand
Your need to feel a gentle hand
Now girl it's not my style, I can not lie
You know I like to serve it on the freaky side
What you want I can't ignore
So tell me what your lookin for, yeah
Tell me what you want
Tell me what you need
Tell me if it ain't good enough for ya babe
Tell me
Tell me what you want
Tell me what you need
Tell me if it ain't good enough for ya babe
Tell me
And you know, you know
When I lay you down
I can hear your body speak
Telling me to kiss you till your knees get weak
All night working that, working that, working that body baby
In the bed, or the middle of the floor baby
My love is guaranteed to make you go crazy
Said I don't need nothing wrong
With loving you all night long
Tell me what you want
Tell me what you need
Tell me if it ain't good enough for ya babe
Tell me
Tell me what you want
Tell me what you need
Tell me if it ain't good enough for ya babe
Tell me
The lyrics to Dru Hill's song "Tell Me" are about a man who is willing to give his partner anything she wants or needs, sexually or otherwise. He pleads with her to communicate her desires to him so that he can fulfill them. He claims that anything is possible and that he won't ask why, he'll just let it flow. He encourages her to take control and express what she wants, promising to listen and fulfill her every desire. The song speaks to the importance of communication and openness in a relationship, and the importance of being willing to listen to and meet your partner's needs.
The lyrics are very sexual in nature and are meant to be titillating. The singer promises to take his time when making love to his partner, starting with foreplay and not stopping until she is completely satisfied. He paints a picture of a romantic evening, complete with candlelight and gentle touches. The chorus is repetitive and serves to reinforce the message that the singer is eager to please his partner and wants her to communicate her desires to him.
In conclusion, "Tell Me" is a song about the importance of communication, openness, and mutual pleasure in a romantic relationship. It emphasizes the importance of listening to your partner's needs and desires and working together to fulfill them.
