Keep the Change
Drug Test Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Will someone explain whats going on?
You hang on anything just to belong.
I don't think you know why you do the things you do
You change your act every minute, through and through.

You could change your mind everyday,
and I still won't care what you have to say.
I don't fucking care!

I work hard everyday to survive.
I was never handed anything, so I had to strive.
My confusion lies in the acts I see.
I don't understand what you're trying so hard to be...

You could change your mind everyday,
and I still won't care what you have to say.

No one can save you now!
What are you gonna do?
No one can save you now!
It's not like they'd want to!
No one can save you now!
Change is over due!

No one can save you now!
Your time is over, you're through!

Overall Meaning

Drug Test's song Keep the Change is a furious and unapologetic critique of the superficiality and confusion that characterizes a certain aspect of the modern youth culture. The song speaks directly to those who hang on anything just to belong, who change their act every minute, and who define themselves by external constructs such as clothes, music, and trends. The singer of the song expresses disbelief at the behavior of these individuals, and particularly at their inability to be true to themselves, to their beliefs, and to their desires. The song makes it clear that the singer sees through the facade of these individuals, and that they are not impressed by their attempts to fit in or to be different.

The chorus of the song is particularly telling, as it expresses the singer's outright dismissal and disdain towards those who behave in such a manner. The repetition of "You could change your mind everyday, and I still won't care what you have to say" emphasizes the fact that the singer is not interested in engaging with those who are superficial, self-absorbed, and unauthentic. The song suggests that the singer has no time for such behavior, as they are too busy working hard to survive and achieve their own goals. Ultimately, the song suggests that these individuals are on their own, and that no one can save them from the inevitable consequences of living their lives without purpose, direction or intention.

That's not a one size fits all prescription! It depends on if said person is
1)male or female
2)their weight
3) how their metabolism works
4)how long they've been using
5) how healthy their gut biome is
6)if they have malabsorption
issues
6)Their overall health
7)How much fluids were drank
before test, what specific
fluids were drank, how close in
proximity to the test they
were drank
My ex was a die hard pot smoker for years, smoking heavy daily, small guy, but had meat on his n
Bones, and I've seen him not stop smoking at all before tests, even smoking a joint in the parking lot directly before the test, only drinking 1 gallon of water with a couple capfuls of apple cider vinegar mixed in 1 hour before test, being sure to
pee only 1 time before the test, and he passed every time, he wasn't what you say healthy, but he did have a fast metabolism. Myself on the other hand, i quit smoking for 6 long weeks, wasn't taking anything else either, yet i failed my text, and had quite high levels still, my metabolism had to be darn near not working at all!
So many things can affect it; Anyways sorry for the book, much love to you and yours, wish you peace and happiness in your neverending story 💖💕💖

@murphy423

I wonder how many people this video failed a drug test? Motrins and other NSAIDs can cause false positives for barbiturates, PCP, and THC.

Drug testing should be banned permanently. If everyone who was ever forced to take this test declined, then the government would have no choice but to shut the program down. The power is in our hands, not big brother.
