I said, oh pretty baby, what a crazy beat
She said oh what a scrap, don't you dig this scene
Daddy Cool's a-playin' his piano machine
Daddy who? Daddy Cool
Daddy who? Daddy Cool
Daddy Coo-ool, Daddy Cool (cool Daddy, cool)
Daddy Coo-ool, Daddy Cool...
Daddy Coo-ool, Daddy Cool (ah-hah-hah, ah-hah-hah)
He led me by-y the hand (cool Daddy, cool)
Down to the radio tech (cool Daddy, cool)
There he attenpted ho-onky-tonk
Cool Daddy shoo-ook the shack (ah-hah-hah, ah-hah-hah)
The joint was di-I'm and dark (cool Daddy, cool)
Except for o-one small place (cool Daddy, cool)
The shining of you, fa-ancy face
You look like dy-ynamite (ah-hah-hah, ah-hah-hah)
Daddy Coo-ool, Daddy Cool (Cool Daddy, ah-hah-hah)
Daddy Coo-ool, Daddy Cool (Cool Daddy)
Daddy Coo-ool, Daddy Coo-oo-oo-ool (cool...)
Daddy Coo-ool, Daddy Cool (ah-hah-hah, ah-hah-hah)
Rock Cool Daddy, honky-tonky Daddy
A-rock Cool Daddy, honky-tonky Daddy
A-rock Cool Daddy, honky-tonky Daddy
A-rock Cool Daddy, honky-tonky Daddy
A-rock Cool Daddy, honky-tonky Daddy
A-rock-rock-rock-rock-rock (rock - rock - rock)
And when they clo-ose the door (Cool Daddy, cool)
O-of my favourite hall (ah-hah-hah, ah-hah-hah)
We're gonna see her e-every night
'Cause she's desi-igned for more (ah-hah-hah, ah-hah-hah)
Daddy Coo-ool, Daddy Cool (Cool Daddy, ah-hah-hah)
Daddy Coo-ool, Daddy Cool (Cool Daddy)
Daddy Coo-ool, Daddy Coo-oo-oo-ool (cool...)
Daddy Coo-ool, Daddy Cool (ah-hah-hah, ah-hah-hah, ah-hah-hah)
The lyrics to Daddy Cool tell the story of a young man encountering a woman who he finds fascinating while walking down the street. He approaches her and comments on her unique energy, to which she responds by introducing him to Daddy Cool, a musician who is playing his piano machine. Daddy Cool takes the young man to a radio technician, where he attempts to play some honky-tonk music. The song describes the dimly lit, mysterious atmosphere of the venue, and the young man's admiration for the woman he met on the street.
The chorus repeats the phrase "Daddy Cool" and adds "cool daddy, cool" in between. This could be interpreted as a reference to Daddy's musical style and his perceived "coolness" or could be a way to create a catchy hook for the song. The lyrics throughout the song have a playful energy with lots of wordplay and slang, which adds to the overall fun, lighthearted feel.
Overall, the song Daddy Cool can be seen as an homage to the wild, rebellious spirit of rock and roll music. The young man's encounter with the woman and Daddy Cool himself could represent the exciting, slightly dangerous world of live music performance and the unexpected connections that can form around it.

Unbelievably it knocked Daddy Cool's Eagle Rock off the number one spot. However Eagle Rock held No1 from 3/7-4/9/71. This was No1 11/9/-23/10 before Olivia came along with The Banks of the Ohio

Drummond went on to be the little river band
Rube Waddell
This version of Drummond anyways. Drummond was the name of a band with a rotating roster created by Festival Records to release novelty songs. This version first became Mississippi. They met Glenn Wheatley and Glenn Shorrock in the U.K. Mississippi had broken up but on return to Australia they reformed with Wheatley as their manager. It was on a trip to a gig in Geelong that they decided to change their name to Little River Band when they passed the town of Little River. Graeme Goble was the only member of the original trio that recorded Daddy Cool who became a member of LRB.
