Daylight ft. Hadouken!
Drumsound & Bassline Smith Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Trust me, you'll see where you are
'Cause it's over now
Yeah it's over now
And I mean it, the day will go wrong
Go wrong, go wrong
And as the daylight comes
Don't waste it all again
Oh yeah
Gotta let it go

And as the daylight comes
Don't waste it all again

And as the daylight comes
Don't waste it all again
Oh yeah
Gotta let it go

Trust me, you'll see where you are
'Cause it's over now
Yeah it's over now
And I mean it, the day will go wrong
Go wrong, go wrong

When you see that the time is gone
And the world has moved along
Gotta let it go
Gotta let it go

Why do you wanna know?
Why do you need to know?
Why do you wanna know about it?

And as the daylight comes
Don't waste it all again

And as the daylight comes
Don't waste it all again

Oh yeah
Gotta let it go

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to the song Daylight by Drumsound & Bassline Smith feat. Hadouken! seem to be about the fleeting nature of time and the importance of seizing the day. The lines "Trust me, you'll see where you are/Cause it's over now/Yeah it's over now" suggest that time has run out for something or someone, and that it's time to move on. The repeated refrain "And as the daylight comes/Don't waste it all again/Gotta let it go" emphasizes the need to let go of the past and focus on the present.

The verses of the song suggest a feeling of regret or missed opportunities. The lines "Why do you wanna know?/Why do you need to know?/Why do you wanna know about it?" could be interpreted as being addressed to someone who is dwelling on the past, or as a self-criticism for dwelling on the past. The overall message of the song is one of encouragement to let go of past mistakes and live in the moment.

One interesting aspect of the song is its fusion of different genres. Drumsound & Bassline Smith are known for their drum and bass sound, while Hadouken! is known for their punk rock and electronic music. The combination of these two styles creates a unique hybrid sound. Additionally, the song features spoken word parts that add to the overall trippy and atmospheric vibe of the track.
