’60s-sounding Welsh blues singer Aimee Anne Duffy - known professionally as Duffy - released her debut single Rockferry in December 2007. After relocating to London in 2006, she came to the attention of Rough Trade. She is often compared to late ’60s soul diva Dusty Springfield and has experienced significant mainstream success with the single Mercy reaching #1 in the United Kingdom. The debut album, Rockferry, was released in March 2008, and also made #1 on the UK album chart. Bernard Butler of Suede worked extensively on the album, lending it an authentic and wonderfully produced lush ’60s sound.
The 24-year-old’s debut album, Rockferry, triumphed at the 2009 BRIT Awards for British Album, British Female Solo Artist, and British Breakthrough Act.

The Welsh song "Cariad Dwi'n Unig" is a heart-wrenching ballad about loneliness and the longing for love. Duffy, the singer, expresses her feelings of being alone and searching for someone to connect with. She asks where the person she loves is, and pleads for them to touch her, symbolizing the need for physical and emotional connection.
The simplicity of the song is striking as it features only a few chords and minimalist instrumentation. The repetition of the line "cyffwrdd sydd mor syml" (touch that is so simple) reflects the idea that sometimes, all we need is a simple, human connection to push through difficult times. Duffy suggests that the need for love shouldn't be complex or difficult to achieve, and with the right person, it can be straightforward.
The last verse of the song shows a vulnerable side of Duffy as she reaches out to the person she loves to stay with her, even if it's just standing close by. She pleads with them not to leave, and that her heart is close to breaking. The message echoes the underlying theme of the song, that even when we have love, the fear of losing it can overshadow us and lead to feelings of isolation.

You've made me so happy~ I thought it was going to be horribly difficult to find lyrics(and translations) for Duffy's Welsh songs, but your vids were the first search results I had^^ I keep meaning to learn Gaelic(I'm Irish, Scottish, and Welsh; I feel like I should learn at least one of Gaelic languages>_<), but no resources to do so where I liveㅠㅠ~ Thanks so much for posting these~~!!
