Well Well Well
Duffy Lyrics

Well well well
Well well well
Well well well
Well well well

Highly suspicious,
Where was I last night
Seek and you shall find
And it goes in my mind,
You make me draw the line
I didn't commit any crime

I'm not guilty
Of what you're saying I do
I'm not guilty
Of what you're saying I do

Well well well
Why you giving me the third degree?
Why you giving me the third degree?

When I'm not guilty
Of what you're saying I do
I'm not guilty
Of what you're saying I do

I'm not that cagey
But I don't need to explain
There's nothing to blame

You'll only drive me away
There's so many questions everyday
You make me go insane

I'm not guilty
Of what you're saying I do
I'm not guilty
Of what you're saying I do

Well well well
Why you giving me the third degree?
Why you giving me the third degree?

When I'm not guilty
Of what you're saying I do
I'm not guilty
Of what you're saying I do

Well well well
Well well well
Well well well
Well well well

I'm not guilty
Of what you're saying I do
You know I'm not guilty
Of what you're saying I do

Why you giving me the third degree?
Why you giving me the third degree?
Just why you giving me the third degree?
Why you giving me the third degree?

Well well well

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Duffy's song "Well Well Well" explore the theme of suspicion and false accusations. The repetition of the phrase "Well well well" at the beginning and end of the song implies a level of frustration and exasperation from the singer. The first verse begins with the singer being accused of something they did not do, and they express their innocence, stating "I didn't commit any crime." The second verse reiterates this point, as the singer questions why they are being given the "third degree" when they are not guilty.

The chorus emphasizes the singer's innocence, repeating "I'm not guilty of what you're saying I do," and questioning why they are being accused when there is no evidence. The bridge adds to the frustration, as the singer states that they don't need to explain themselves and that there is nothing to blame. They feel as though they are being interrogated constantly, and it's driving them crazy.

It was game seven of the most epic basketball series in the planet's history. At stake, the championship for the all-time best team ever! The two teams had battled back and forth over the last six games, and now it was down to the wire.

The crowd was electric. The home team had earned a slight lead thus far, but they were about to face their most difficult challenge. The opponent was a formidable one and would be sure to show no mercy.

The two teams met at center court. There was an almost eerie silence, broken only when a female voice suddenly boomed, “Well, well, well!” Every time before the players dribbled the ball, she would announce this phrase.

The play started frantic and exciting. Both teams pushed the ball up and down the court with zeal and precision, executing incredible moves and shots, while the female voice kept counting.

The home team started to pull away in the third quarter, but the visitors clawed their way back into the game. With two minutes left, the score was tied and the atmosphere was frenzied. Both teams traded shots and stops, franticly dribbling the ball ten times a second while the female voice repeated the "Well, well, well!".

The home team's star player made a clutch 3-pointer in the last second of the game to claim the championship. The crowd went wild, celebrating with the team and the victorious female announcer, who was still blaring “Well, well, well!”
