1) A Norwegian rock band from Trondheim.
They started up in the late 1970s as a punk band under the name Wannskrækk. Wannskrækk released one of the most sought-after Norwegian punk seven inches called "Faen kuler treffer aldri riktig" in 1981, the year after the Wannskrækk 12" was released. Wannskrækk moved on and reinvented themselves with a new name and a somewhat new sound in 1985.
This shift invoked the beginning of one of the greatest success stories in Norwegian rock ever. The new name, DumDum Boys, was taken from a song on the album "The Idiot" by Iggy Pop. Their debut album, Blodig Alvor (na na na na na), is still regarded as one of the classic albums in Norwegian rock. The same is said for their following 1989 album, Splitter Pine. They are still the only band that have won "Spellemannsprisens Rock Category" (the Norwegian version of "Grammy Awards") three times in a row.
Third album Pstereo fulfilled the trilogy of award-winning LP's, including the two others mentioned above. The song "Splitter Pine" is one of the most well known rock-singles in the history of Norwegian rock. Since then, bass player Persi Iveland has been replaced by Aslak Dørum, who now is the song-writer alongside rock legend and guitarist Kjartan Kristiansen. Kristiansen is one of the most respected song-writers in Norway, especially because of his well written and important lyrics, sung by frontman Prepple Houmb. Sola Johnsen is still the drummer and has been that since the late 70's. He's released a solo-ep called "Verdens Beste Trommis" ("Worlds Greatest Drummer"), as a tribute to Led Zeppelin hero John Bonham.
After a seven year hiatus, they had a very successful tour in Norway during the summer of 2004. They went back into the studio in 2005 and released their critically acclaimed new album "Gravitasjon" in March 2006. "Gravitasjon" showed that DumDum Boys is still a band influenced by the punk rock scene.

Aah, du gjшr meg gal
Du ta meg hinsides
Jeg kommer for sent til jobben
Like heftig hver gang
Du har aldri sett meg uten deg
Pе langt nжr sе tшff, nei
Men rundt jorda med meg
Se hva vi har her - idyll.
Jeg tror jeg blir her - idyll.
Verdens beste hеndspеlegger
Nеr du ikke er her
Durer stereo'n som et uvжr
Du har aldri sett meg uten deg
Pе langt nжr sе tшff, nei
Du fеr aldri dra din vei
Men jorda rundt meg
Brune шyne ser pе meg
En fugl jeg aldri kan fange
Jeg mе ha deg og du meg
For jeg elsker deg
Og du kjшrer i hundre
Aah du gjшr meg gal!
Du har aldri sett meg uten deg
Pе langt nжr sе tшff, nei
Du fеr aldri dra din vei
Men rundt jorda med meg
Se hva vi har her - idyll
Hver gang du tar meg - idyll
Aah, jeg blir her - idyll
Spark, slе og knull meg - ekte idyll
The song "Idyll" by the Norwegian rock band DumDum Boys is a tribute to the exhilarating feeling of being with someone you love, even if it means breaking a few rules. The lyrics describe the rush of being in a car driven at high speed by the person you adore ("Jeg elsker deg når du kjører i hundre / Aah, du gjør meg gal"), the sense of adventure and freedom this brings ("Du tar meg hinsides"), and the thrill of being late for work because you just can't resist being together ("Jeg kommer for sent til jobben / Like heftig hver gang").
The song also celebrates the unique bond between two people who are so connected that they can't imagine being without each other, even for a moment ("Du har aldri sett meg uten deg / På langt nær så tøff, nei / Du får aldri dra din vei / Men rundt jorda med meg"). The line "Brune øyne ser på meg / En fugl jeg aldri kan fange" expresses the idea that love is something wild and untamed that can't be controlled or possessed. The final line, "Spark, slå og knull meg - ekte idyll" ("Kick, hit, and fuck me - real paradise"), adds a touch of raw sexual energy to the song, emphasizing the physical intensity of the couple's relationship.
Overall, "Idyll" is a song about the intoxicating power of love and the way it can make us feel alive and free, even in the face of danger or societal expectations.
