1) A Norwegian rock band from Trondheim.
They started up in the late 1970s as a punk band under the name Wannskrækk. Wannskrækk released one of the most sought-after Norwegian punk seven inches called "Faen kuler treffer aldri riktig" in 1981, the year after the Wannskrækk 12" was released. Wannskrækk moved on and reinvented themselves with a new name and a somewhat new sound in 1985.
This shift invoked the beginning of one of the greatest success stories in Norwegian rock ever. The new name, DumDum Boys, was taken from a song on the album "The Idiot" by Iggy Pop. Their debut album, Blodig Alvor (na na na na na), is still regarded as one of the classic albums in Norwegian rock. The same is said for their following 1989 album, Splitter Pine. They are still the only band that have won "Spellemannsprisens Rock Category" (the Norwegian version of "Grammy Awards") three times in a row.
Third album Pstereo fulfilled the trilogy of award-winning LP's, including the two others mentioned above. The song "Splitter Pine" is one of the most well known rock-singles in the history of Norwegian rock. Since then, bass player Persi Iveland has been replaced by Aslak Dørum, who now is the song-writer alongside rock legend and guitarist Kjartan Kristiansen. Kristiansen is one of the most respected song-writers in Norway, especially because of his well written and important lyrics, sung by frontman Prepple Houmb. Sola Johnsen is still the drummer and has been that since the late 70's. He's released a solo-ep called "Verdens Beste Trommis" ("Worlds Greatest Drummer"), as a tribute to Led Zeppelin hero John Bonham.
After a seven year hiatus, they had a very successful tour in Norway during the summer of 2004. They went back into the studio in 2005 and released their critically acclaimed new album "Gravitasjon" in March 2006. "Gravitasjon" showed that DumDum Boys is still a band influenced by the punk rock scene.
2) French garage rock band from Nice.

& ryggen fri
Mang en søster mer enn en bror
Vi er dem meg & vi
I går på stranden
For godt til å være sant
Når nok bagateller
Kommer på kloss hold
Det store intet
Er hvor enn vi er
Det store intet
Re iv nne rovh re
Over 2000 somre ligger igjen
Lommene fulle av søte dikt
I galopp på en haug rustent jern
I morgen i hælene
Over rushkryss på rødt
Fant ting jeg aldri hadde trodd
Var å finne mellom tak & golv
Fant det store intet
Synd men sant
Det store intet
Er her & overalt
Det store intet
Synd men sant
Det store intet
Game over
The lyrics of DumDum Boys' song "Store intet" convey a sense of liberation, self-discovery, and the transient nature of life. The first verse suggests a turning towards the horizon and a sense of freedom with the back being free. The line "Mang en søster mer enn en bror" (Many a sister more than a brother) implies a feeling of unity and camaraderie amongst individuals. The following lines depict a carefree day at the beach, possibly representing a moment of pure bliss or escapism. However, amidst the trivialities and distractions of life, the line "Zap så er slaget tapt" (Zap, then the battle is lost) suggests that easily losing sight of the bigger picture can lead to missed opportunities or regrets.
The chorus introduces the concept of the "store intet" (the great nothing) which is described as being everywhere. It symbolizes the void or emptiness that exists within oneself or in general. The repetition of the line "Det store intet" emphasizes its omnipresence. The following lines referencing over 2000 summers remaining and pockets full of sweet poems suggest a recognition of finite time and the collection of cherished memories or experiences. The verse concludes with the phrase "Game over," which can be interpreted as a reminder of mortality or the finality of certain aspects of life.
Overall, "Store intet" touches upon themes of fleeting moments, self-reflection, and the realization of the emptiness that exists alongside life's pleasures and distractions.
