1) A Norwegian rock band from Trondheim.
They started up in the late 1970s as a punk band under the name Wannskrækk. Wannskrækk released one of the most sought-after Norwegian punk seven inches called "Faen kuler treffer aldri riktig" in 1981, the year after the Wannskrækk 12" was released. Wannskrækk moved on and reinvented themselves with a new name and a somewhat new sound in 1985.
This shift invoked the beginning of one of the greatest success stories in Norwegian rock ever. The new name, DumDum Boys, was taken from a song on the album "The Idiot" by Iggy Pop. Their debut album, Blodig Alvor (na na na na na), is still regarded as one of the classic albums in Norwegian rock. The same is said for their following 1989 album, Splitter Pine. They are still the only band that have won "Spellemannsprisens Rock Category" (the Norwegian version of "Grammy Awards") three times in a row.
Third album Pstereo fulfilled the trilogy of award-winning LP's, including the two others mentioned above. The song "Splitter Pine" is one of the most well known rock-singles in the history of Norwegian rock. Since then, bass player Persi Iveland has been replaced by Aslak Dørum, who now is the song-writer alongside rock legend and guitarist Kjartan Kristiansen. Kristiansen is one of the most respected song-writers in Norway, especially because of his well written and important lyrics, sung by frontman Prepple Houmb. Sola Johnsen is still the drummer and has been that since the late 70's. He's released a solo-ep called "Verdens Beste Trommis" ("Worlds Greatest Drummer"), as a tribute to Led Zeppelin hero John Bonham.
After a seven year hiatus, they had a very successful tour in Norway during the summer of 2004. They went back into the studio in 2005 and released their critically acclaimed new album "Gravitasjon" in March 2006. "Gravitasjon" showed that DumDum Boys is still a band influenced by the punk rock scene.
2) French garage rock band from Nice.

DumDum Boys Lyrics

The lyrics of "Tip Top" by DumDum Boys reflect a sense of betrayal and disillusionment in a relationship. The singer expresses regret over believing in someone who has let them down. The lines "En ting kunne jeg spart meg, det var å tro på deg" convey a feeling of disappointment and realization that trusting the other person was a mistake. This sets the tone for the rest of the song, where the singer explores feelings of hurt and blame.
The lyrics also paint a picture of a person who is not as innocent or angelic as they may appear. The lines "Du er ingen engel, du prøver ikke engang" suggest that the person being addressed is not making an effort to be genuine or good. The imagery of a "liten djevel på hver skulder" emphasizes the duality of human nature, with both light and dark forces at play. This can be interpreted as a commentary on the complexity of relationships and human behavior.
The repeated phrase "Jeg er bombesikker, bare fyr løs" conveys a sense of defiance and self-assurance in the face of adversity. The singer seems determined to stand their ground and not let the actions of others have a negative impact on them. This resilience is further emphasized by the line "Det biter ikke," suggesting that the hurtful words or behavior of others do not have the power to bring them down.
Overall, "Tip Top" by DumDum Boys is a reflective and empowering song that explores themes of trust, disappointment, and inner strength. The lyrics delve into the complexities of human relationships and the resilience needed to navigate through difficult situations. The repeated affirmations of being "bombesikker" and unaffected by negativity serve as a reminder of the singer's determination to maintain their emotional well-being and sense of self-worth.

En ting kunne jeg spart meg
I could have saved myself one thing
Det var å tro på deg
And that was believing in you
Og når jeg henger med hodet
And when I hang my head
Er det din skyld og vare min feil
It's your fault and my mistake
Du er ingen engel
You are no angel
Du prøver ikke engang
You don't even try
Du har en liten djevel på hver skulder
You have a little devil on each shoulder
Som maser dagen lang
Who nags all day long
Jeg er bombesikker
I am absolutely sure
Bare fyr løs
Just fire away
Det biter ikke
It won't bite
Og om en liten stund
And in a little while
Er det lenge siden
It's been a long time
Stillhet er helt okay underholdning
Silence is perfectly fine entertainment
Det slår ingenting
It beats nothing
Hjertet mitt må kanskje sys noen sting
My heart may need some stitches
Og ellers er alt tip top og formen er fin fin
And everything else is tip top and the shape is fine fine
