Duncan Laurence Lyrics

I'm still fixing all the cracks
Lost a couple of pieces when
I carried it, carried it, carried it home
I'm afraid of all I am
My mind feels like a foreign land
Silence ringing inside my head
I spent all of the love I've saved
We were always a losing game
Small-town boy in a big arcade
I got addicted to a losing game
Ooh, ooh
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
How many pennies in the slot
Giving us up, didn't take a lot
I saw the end 'fore it begun
Still I carried, I carried, I carried on
Ooh, ooh
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
Ooh, ooh
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
I don't need your games, game over
Get me off this roller-coaster
Ooh, ooh
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
Ooh, ooh
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
In "Arcade," Duncan Laurence sings a sorrowful tale of a relationship that was doomed from the start. The opening lines state that he is left with a broken heart and that he is trying to fix its cracks. He goes on to say that he lost a couple of pieces of his heart while carrying it back home. The song then goes on to depict how the singer is afraid of his own thoughts, and his mind feels like a foreign land to him.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the feeling that loving someone is a losing game. The singer admits that he spent all his love on their relationship, but it still ended up being a losing game. Duncan Laurence uses the metaphor of a small-town boy in a big arcade, getting addicted to a losing game, to describe how he felt in the relationship. He knew they were always heading towards the end, but he still carried on and tried to make it work.
The bridge of the song tells us that it didn't take much for their relationship to fall apart. Duncan Laurence saw the end even before it began, and still, he carried on to try to make it work, to no avail. Ultimately, he wants to get off the roller-coaster of the relationship and move on.

This song is exstreamly relatable for me
My father left me before I was born, and my mother fell "in love" with someone else.
That man would end up marring my mother and become my "father."
Over the past 14 years, he would shut me down, abuse me, and mock my sickness that left me in bed for half a year.
I always tried to hold on to hope, a losing game. He treated me like an outcast and forced us to move every year, leaving me to be that small town boy in a big arcade.
Just 6 months ago, my mother finally left him for good, I'm still trying to pick up the pieces of my childhood that were taken from me and trying to fix my psychological problems that I was left with.
