After a scene-stealing appearance on The Alchemist's 2012 album Russian Roulette and some buzz-building early singles, hip-hop's newest supergroup is ready to take the spotlight. Consisting of Cali-bred emcees Planet Asia, Killer Ben, and Tristate, Durag Dynasty is the latest project presented by The Alchemist. Durag Dyansty's debut album 360 Waves (entirely produced by The Alchemist) was released on March 26, 2013.
While Planet Asia has enjoyed an extensive career dating back to the late 90s, Killer Ben and Tristate are newer artists. Fortunately, the latter two are no less capable of rocking the mic, and both get a stamp of approval from Alchemist. "Tristate is a professional wizard," he says. "Killer Ben is a rare combination of a certified larynx surgeon and a schoolyard bully." Joining the three co-stars is a star-studded lineup of guests, including Prodigy, Evidence, Phil da Agony, Chace Infinite, and more. Expect head-nodding hip-hop and, in The Alchemist's words, "stretchable polyester rhythms."

It
's the Durag Dynasty
We about to take you on a journey through the spiral event
Hold on tight
[Verse 1: Planet Asia]
Parachutin' outta Cessnas
I'm the best, bruh, wherever my vest, bruh
I could bring the drama like West, bruh, but I'm blessed, bruh
The baddest hoes out my address, bruh, they impressed, bruh
I teach data, but I ain't that dude from Crest, bruh
Cold turkey extac'
Squishin' grapes like I'm makin' fine cognac
Hold up, get off me, runnin' it like the cross me
'Cause the world is filthy and bosses be gettin' soft, be
Money ain't a thing, throwin' parties in Beverly
I'm still me, smokin' weed, dirty mac in my telly
Now they beggin' me to sing, got my own cult following
Had my money, then my fame, now we global and swallerin'
The lyrics of Durag Dynasty's song "Spiral Event" talk about a journey that the Durag Dynasty is going to take their listeners on. They invite their listeners to hold on tight, indicating that they are about to embark on a wild ride. The first verse by Planet Asia talks about how he is the best wherever he goes and can bring drama like West, but he is still blessed. He mentions his baddest hoes and how they are impressed by him while he teaches data, but he is not the Crest dude. He talks about how money is not a thing for him and how he is still himself, smoking weed, and dirty mac in his telly.
One possible interpretation of the song's lyrics could be that the Durag Dynasty is taking their listeners on a journey through their musical style and unique experiences. They are the best where they go and have a solid following, but they stay true to themselves. They also acknowledge the existence of bosses who are getting soft and the importance of staying true to oneself regardless of fame and fortune.
