Come Undone
Duran Duran Lyrics

Mine, immaculate dream made breath and skin
I've been waiting for you
Signed with a home tattoo
Happy birthday to you was created for you

Can't ever keep from falling apart at the seams
Can I believe you're taking my heart to pieces?

Ah, it'll take a little time
Might take a little crime to come undone
Now we'll try to stay blind to the hope and fear outside
Hey child, stay wilder than the wind and blow me in to cry

Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone

Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone

Words, playing me deja vu
Like a radio tune, I swear I've heard before
Chill, is it something real?
Or the magic I'm feeding off your fingers

Can't ever keep from falling apart at the seams
Can I believe you're taking my heart to pieces?

Lost, in a snow filled sky
We'll make it alright to come undone
Now we'll try to stay blind to the hope and fear outside
Hey child, stay wilder than the wind and blow me in to cry

Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone

Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone (can't ever keep from falling apart)

Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone (can't ever keep from falling apart)

Who do you need?
Who do you love? (Can't ever keep from falling apart)
Who do you love?
When you come undone

I will never get over this song.
It is tattooed permanently on my soul.
The massive cluster of emotions and simple, yet complex human conditions laced throughout its lyrics - and the video - are beyond intense...
Introspection, trepidation, anxiety, isolation, uncertainty - even self-denial, with an underlying hint of caution and a percolating darkness - all whirring around together, seemingly intoxicated by their own frailties, while throbbing to the agonising pulse of constricted and supressed emancipation, all being denied their freedom in the clutches of a restraining, mid-tempo drum-beat.

The spirit of the music and the lyrics seem to point to that moment we all face at some stage in our lives, where we are right at that threshold of shedding, discarding and letting go, so as to allow for that "next step"; a new direction, a new hope and a new identity...
Yet, at the same time, the slowness of the rhythm - pumping like a life-support apparatus - keeps a grip on its listener, binding them in straps, as though intentionally holding them back from leaping toward their freedom!

Every single aspect of this song works at a level above and beyond human consciousness. It is the perfect soundtrack song for both those who are on the edge of sanity, but also for those who are carried along by its advocacy for complete and total abandon.

A sheer and eternal masterpiece.

Yeah!!!

rareandwonderfull

The lyrics: I would not be at all surprised to learn that Bob Dylan wrote them, it is his style, progressing through ideas/situations that have no connection to each other, like the dream state. While dreaming the mind lingers in a situation for a time, then instantly is in a situation having no connection whatsoever to the previous scene, and what would be illogical and shocking in waking life is accepted with no thought or feeling in the dream state. The music style: slow, lush, exotic, hypnotic.
This recording is a masterpiece, a brilliant inspiration, and the video accords with the lyrics in it's illogical disconnected dream state.
