In 1998, shortly after the release of Stratosphere, the band released a 7" titled 'Apex, Trance-Like' on SLR, a small label based out of Miami, Florida at the time. According to the Up Records website: "Duster are currently working together on new songs and planning to record soon, and their line-up has recently expanded to include friends Krag and Ross, who play guitar and bass."
Jason and Dove work together in a band called 'Helvetia', Clay is working on a project called 'Eiafuawn' (Everything Is All Fucked Up And What Not), and has released a CD on 'The Static Cult Label', titled 'Birds in the Ground'. Sweden's 'Pillowscars' label is to release a 12" version in 2008.

Me and the Birds
Duster Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Back and forth, back and forth
All the pill connoisseurs and the secret saboteurs got the fever for surveillance and the night life
Me and the birds
in the parking lot, we got the fever too
We step and swing while the cars go rat-a-tat-tat
And I forget that I'm supposed to be somewhere
The lyrics to Duster's song Me and the Birds paint a picture of a bustling, high-energy night life in which fashion-obsessed party-goers sway and pill enthusiasts prowl about. This fast-paced world, teeming with activity and surveillance, is contrasted with the peaceful solitude of the singer and the birds, who find refuge in the parking lot. Amid the sounds of cars and the whir of the city around them, they move in time to the music and lose themselves in the moment. It is a beautiful, poignant image of finding joy and freedom amidst the noise and chaos of modern life.
One possible interpretation of the song could be that the singer is searching for a way to escape the pressures and expectations of society. The high-fashion freaks and pill connoisseurs represent the superficial and materialistic values that dominate our culture, while the singer and the birds serve as a symbol of the natural world, untamed and free. By immersing themselves in the music and movement of the parking lot, they are able to briefly forget about the demands of the world and find solace in the moment.
Overall, Me and the Birds is a powerful and evocative song that speaks to our need for connection, freedom, and escape. Its lyrics paint a vivid picture of a world in which beauty and meaning can be found in unexpected places, and it is sure to resonate with anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed by the pressures of modern life.
