Dustin also has a solo acoustic side project under his own name. He had toured in past years on his own under the moniker "Ursus Veritas," but decided to drop the name in favor of simplicity since "people have enough trouble just pronouncing [his] last name to begin with." The name was a play-on-words of its Latin components: Ursus meaning bear, and Veritas meaning truth. Kensrue has been quoted as saying there is no real special significance to the name, other than he likes bears, and thought it sounded cool.
On January 23, 2007, Kensrue released a solo album titled "Please Come Home" under his name, Dustin Kensrue and on the label Equal Vision Records. It includes the tracks "I Knew You Before," "Pistol," "I Believe," "Please Come Home," "Blood & Wine," "Consider The Ravens," "Weary Saints," and "Blanket Of Ghosts." He wrapped up the recording and mixing of the album at the home of fellow Thrice member Teppei Teranishi. The album opened at 142 on the Billboard 200 with 5,800 copies sold. He supported the album with a solo tour including stops on David Letterman's talk show and The Fuse Network.

Rejoice
Dustin Kensrue Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Full of wonder, full of fear
Come behold His power and glory
Yet with confidence draw near
For the one who holds the heavens
And commands the stars above
Is the God who bends to bless us
Rejoice, come and lift your hands and
Raise your voice, He is worthy of our praise
Rejoice, sing of mercies of your King
And with trembling, rejoice
We are children of the promise
The beloved of the Lord
Won with everlasting kindness
Bought with sacrificial blood
Bringing reconciliation
To a world that longs to know
The affections of a Father
Who will never let them go
Rejoice, come and lift your hands and
Raise your voice, He is worthy of our praise
Rejoice, sing of mercies of your King
And with trembling, rejoice
All our sickness, all our sorrows
Jesus carried up the hill
He has walked this path before us
He is walking with us still
Turning tragedy to triumph
Turning agony to praise
There is blessing in the battle
So take heart and stand amazed
Rejoice, when you cry to Him He hears
Your voice, He will wipe away your tears
Rejoice, in the midst of suffering
He will help you sing
Rejoice, come and lift your hands and
Raise your voice, He is worthy of our praise
Rejoice, sing of mercies of your King
And with trembling rejoice
The song "Rejoice" by Dustin Kensrue is a song about worshiping God, who holds the power and glory of the heavens and the stars, yet still bends down to bless us with his unrelenting love. The lyrics encourage us to come and stand before our Maker not just full of wonder, but also with confidence because we are children of the promise, beloved of the Lord, and bought with the sacrificial blood of Jesus.
The song reminds us that Jesus carried all our sickness and sorrows up the hill, and that he walks with us in the midst of our suffering. It also tells us that he can turn our tragedies into triumphs and our agony into praise. The chorus calls on us to rejoice in the Lord, to lift our hands, and to sing of his mercies with trembling. The lyrics are powerful and uplifting, reminding us to worship God in good times and bad because he is always with us.

I was an agnostic until the age of forty years old. Then , in 2005, I began to trust and love the Lord Jesus Christ.

I know this was 6 years ago, but I wanted to say that you are loved and accepted no matter what religion you choose or donât choose. God will always be there for you, even if you donât think he is. Heâs the only entity that WILL ALWAYS have your back, WILL ALWAYS love you no matter how bad you mess up, and he cares deeply for you! I hope all is well with you and your family. Much love from a random 15 year old who cares about you even though I donât know you... because thatâs what Jesus teaches me to do! â€ïž
