Where I Find You
Dustin Tebbutt Lyrics

If I were a geisha would I find you in my blush
If I were a painter would I find you in my brush
Ink commits to paper what time will dissolve
And all through the world is where I find you

If I were a preacher would I find you in my words
If I were a shepherd would I find you in my heard
Ink commits to paper what the mind will dissolve
And all through the world is where I find you

But I won't be long
I've a loaded gun
And one last run
I won't be long

Leave the light on
Till I get home

Overall Meaning

These lyrics from Dustin Tebbutt’s song “Where I Find You” convey the idea that the person singing is looking for someone through various mediums, such as painting and writing. The first two verses mention being a geisha and a painter - if the person were either of these, they wonder if they would find the person they are searching for in their makeup or in the brush strokes of their paintings. The third verse asks if the person would be found in the words of a preacher or in the herd of a shepherd. Throughout all of these possibilities, the person keeps returning to the idea that ink on paper commits something to memory, something that time may dissolve, but that they will always be able to find this person through their creative outlets.

The final lines of the song, “But I won't be long, I've a loaded gun, And one last run, I won't be long, Leave the light on, Till I get home” suggest a sense of urgency and even danger. These lines seem to indicate that the singer is on their way to see the person they have been searching for, and they are willing to take any risk to get to them. The final line, “leave the light on till I get home” is a request to the person who they are searching for - it’s a reassurance that they are coming home, and to wait for them with the light on.

This summer I dropped everything and went on a life changing pilgrimage across Spain. Through the span of 20 days, I walked on foot over 200 miles. I want you to know that the entire time I was listening to your incredible music. It made the experience that much richer, beautiful, and memorable. Now whenever I hear The Breach, I think of the vineyards in Spain where I found peace. Thank you for being a part of the most incredible thing I have ever done, even if you had no idea you did so. Thank you for saving me from monotony. Thank you for opening up my heart and love for adventure.
