See It Through
Dwellings Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

See it fall apart in your own hands
See it fall apart in your own hands
What you called this was romance
Well no more, well no more

Cause I don′t like to talk about shit that's fake (Well no more?)
And I won′t want to talk about hand made faith (No)
Is there anything at all that you'd like to say
That doesn't pertain to something insane? (Yeah, Yeah)
Or is it cool to accept it
Your own son isn′t what you expected (No, No)
To my surprise I cauterize the fact that I might be
Co-dependent on something but religion (Yeah, Yeah)

I thought you were leaving
Why haven′t you gone?
I still feel your presence on me
Is this what you meant by keeping a close eye?
Well I've been trying to

See it fall apart in your own hands
What you called this was romance
Well no more, well no more

Drugs, do they even make a difference?
For instance sometimes
I can′t even operate
Corroborating with my chemicals
Sometimes makes my entrails feel betrayed
They feel betrayed
And in turn there's a sense of hate towards my.

Drugs, do they even make a difference?
For instance sometimes
I can′t even operate
Corroborating with my chemicals
Sometimes makes my entrails feel betrayed
Makes my mind feel okay
Keeps bad thoughts at bay
And in turn there's a sense of hate towards my drugs
Do they even make a difference
For instance sometimes
I can′t even operate
Corroborating with my chemicals
Sometimes makes my entrails feel betrayed
They feel betrayed
They feel betrayed
I need restrain
And in turn there's a sense of hate towards my drugs

Sometimes makes my entrails feel betrayed
Sometimes makes my entrails feel betrayed

See it fall apart in your own hands

What you called this was romance
Well no more, well no more

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Dwellings's song "See It Through" convey themes of disillusionment, questioning one's beliefs, and struggling with addiction. The first verse suggests a relationship that once had the trappings of romance but has now fallen apart. The singer no longer wants to engage in "fake" or "insane" conversations and questions the value of "hand made faith." In the second verse, the singer expresses frustration with their own dependence on drugs and the negative impact it has on their well-being. They feel betrayed by their own entrails and have a sense of hate towards their own reliance on substances. The chorus emphasizes the repeated imagery of things falling apart, and the need for change as a result.

The lyrics to "See It Through" are rife with ambiguity, allowing for multiple interpretations of the song's themes. Some interpret the lyrics as indicative of a relationship conflict or a disillusionment with religion. Others think the song refers to a battle with addiction, pointing to the specific lyrics about drugs and feeling betrayed by one's own entrails. The emphasis on things falling apart could refer to either one of those themes as well.

The part from 2:27 - 4:30 is probably my favorite piece of music that I've heard in soooooo long. Those vocals put me in a trance. I have lost count of how many times I've listened to this in the last couple weeks just because of that 2 minute stretch of awesomeness. Dwellings is most definitely a new favorite band for me.

Can we get a song that has a bunch of unclean vocals like the start has?

I want this band to know they helped me through a tough time. My brother had relapsed a few weeks after I heard this song. No one could find him, or knew where he was. We would get phone calls at 4 a.m. with him talking nonsense and saying he wanted to kill himself- he was high af. My mother and I kept worrying we were gonna get that phone call saying he had OD'ed and it didn't help that we lived states away from him. This song made me keep my hope and inspired me. I said enough. I finally got through to him, and offered him a way out of that enviornment. I bought him a plane ticket and sent him to rehab. It was incredibly hard as I always saw him as a role model. Now here he was, at his lowest low and I, his little sister, was left to pick up the pieces because no one else would. Today, he has been nearly a year sober, and though he still struggles with other demons and we have a long way to recovery, it's a huge improvement from last year. This video, song and just this band really helped me through that time. So thank you, truly, because in that moment, I didn't feel so alone.

I know this is months late, but you're a great sister and that story is amazing. I've gone through similar situations with both my siblings and I'm the youngest and it can be really tough. Stay strong and keep being a great person. <3

Ive been jamming to this album for about a month now, seriously enjoying it, but boy does this song hit close to home. That feeling of hopelessness that comes along with chemical imbalances. It is incredibly debilitating.
