Honkey Tonk Man
Dwight Yoakam Lyrics

Well I'm a honky tonk man
And I can't seem to stop
I love to give the girls a whirl
To the music of an old jukebox
But when my money's all gone,
I'm on the telephone singing
Hey hey mama can your daddy come home

Well now I'm living wild and dangerously
But I've got plenty of company
The moon comes up and the sun goes down
I can't wait to see the lights of town

'Cause I'm a honky tonk man
And I can't seem to stop
I love to give the girls a whirl
To the music of an old jukebox
And when my money's all gone,
I'm on the telephone singing
Hey hey mama can your daddy come home

Well I'm a honky tonk man
And I can't seem to stop
I love to give the girls a whirl
To the music of an old jukebox
And when my money's all gone,
I'm on the telephone singing
Hey hey mama can your daddy come home

Hey now, a pretty little girl and a jug of wine
Well that's what it takes to make a honky tonk time
With the jukebox moaning those honky tonk sounds
I can't wait to lay my money down

'Cause I'm a honky tonk man
And I can't seem to stop
I love to give the girls a whirl
To the music of an old jukebox
But when my money's all gone,
I'm on the telephone singing
Hey hey mama can your daddy come home

I'm a honky tonk man
And I can't seem to stop
I love to give the girls a whirl
To the music of an old jukebox
But when my money's all gone,
I'm on the telephone singing
Hey hey mama can your daddy come home

When I was a teenager my MOM would make me dance with her in the driveway out front of our house, practice for her embarrassment for me. Life provides a person with some great memories even if it doesn't seem like it at the time. MOM died 3 yrs ago on Christmas eve, I look forward to dancing with her in Heaven.

Cherish the moment. Hard to get that through to the yunguns...but, eventually they get it. Just like you did nobodees...just like I did ...and everyone that was young. :O)

Wow, Dwight Yoakam's music brings back vivid memories of my parents, long nights with loud music and the smell of beer and cigs when I was growing up and early teen years.

PBJ, I was raised in southwestern wyoming, by hard working parents. They would take me with them to the little local bar to dance and visit friends at 6 in a town of 200 people! Wouldn’t have it any other way!
