I think Dylan had a great voice. Unfortunately I think he had the wrong song choice. I’m not sure if this was in the wrong key, wrong tempo or what. I felt like he was screaming to keep up?
I definitely don’t want him to be discouraged because he does have a wonderful voice. I believe if he has the right coach, they can prepare him for competition. ❤

@Samuellappa I kind of agree, but kind of don’t. It’s entirely fair that the producers produce the show. It should be collaborative, but they need to know exactly what the act is going to do in order to film it (especially live!!), they need to know song choices to get the rights to use them beforehand, and I think they need to approve of anything the contestants want to do beforehand because they’re the ones providing the budget, set, backup dancers/singers, etc. Also, they definitely need to arrange the performances in a way that doesn’t feel repetitive, stays exciting, and above all makes a good show that people will want to sit through in entirety.
It’s not good for them to dictate exactly what performers do, prevent them from doing what they want, or encourage them to do something that will make them look bad…but it is entirely reasonable that they have a say in what they approve to film and televise on their show. Producers gonna produce, in short.

HUGE injustice to Dylan's talent by choice of wardrobe, background noise level, and dancers/choreography. Simon has stopped many auditions for the excuse of "competing with the background music track," so he should have known better. Dylan's powerful and beautiful voice faded into oblivion for any viewer trying to sort out all that business on the stage, aisle, costume, etc. His voice is too good to be thrown aside by a 3-ring circus accompaniment.

A lot of comments here are ragging on his song choice. I'm not so sure that he even picked this song but I can see why the song was chosen. In order for a senior to advance in a competition like this they have to go outside the box outside their comfort zone and do something that challenges them and takes it to a whole new level. This kid is a good singer and could probably sing anything but this particular song has quite a few key changes in it and I think this song was chosen to give him a chance to show his versatility and prove that they can stay right in tune and change with the keys. And I think he showcase that talent very well

Yeah, they really changed it up and changed try to change him. Just by his first song they should have known his comfort level. I'm not even sure that's "him".. Of course, this whole gimmick and song was put on him and he went with it. At 12, you're not going to say, "This isn't for me!" But, what a joy it is to hear a young singer hit it out of the park and with a song that's not even in his age bracket (talking about his audition) and not reallizing how great he is!

Dylan himself is amazing but someone screwed up a lot with this hokey musical and dancers arrangement. All of the activity on the stage is a complete disaster, and this song is like one of the top 10 most annoying songs ever, arranged in the style of something you'd see on cruise ship. They've done the same thing to a number of supremely talented kids on this show (remember Natalie Okri's 2nd performance?), and I just have to ask whyyyyyyyyy?? The fact that this whole arrangement was at all tolerable is testament to Dylan's skills as a performer and his incredible voice. A mediocre singer would have drowned in that chaotic mess.

Why is everyone hating on him, yes he had a few voice cracks but bear in mind that he’s only what 12-13 years old. So what if the singing wasn’t the best or if his outfit wasn’t very good he still went out there and smashed it. I just think people need to be more considerate and give him some credit for singing an extremely hard song. Just my opinion.

Energy was on point 110% but the song was too much and they could’ve picked a way better song. Didn’t quite fit his voice and he was trying to keep up and some parts were a bit off key. He had an amazing effort and if he picked a different song without so much choreography and crazy back up dancers and something a little slower then he would’ve been in the finals for sure

Outfits were really cool tbh but the song choice was too much. Sure the energy was 100% there, but the song didn’t really fit and he can definitely sing and tackle big songs. The problem is there was too much choreography and the backing track drowned out his vocals and too many key changes. His audition was amazing because he could take on the song without having to move around. He should’ve just sticked to a song similar to his audition.
