Schneider was a fan of pop music and hip hop when he was a child, but later he was attracted to the narrative aspect of country music and began singing at age 14. After meeting Brett Eldredge at a concert in the singer's hometown (Paris, Illinois), Schneider was invited to the stage by Eldredge to perform a song during the latter's performance at Terre Haute. He then began writing and playing songs in both Indiana and Nashville, Tennessee. Between 2014 and 2016, Schneider published a series of videos on YouTube of him making versions of popular country songs, which earned him attention online. The first video was published on May 18, 2014.

I hope you're thinkin′ how that girl was the best you ever had
I hope you're drunk and it don't help
I hope you spend the last few months feelin′ sorry for yourself
Guys like you don′t get second chances, no
And girls like her ain't meant for lovin′ and lettin' go
But she′s movin' on like you thought she′d never would
And if I'm bein' honest with you
When she′s in my arms, she says it feels like it should
She′s been pickin' up the pieces, puttin′ you on a shelf
Ain't thinkin′ 'bout your goodbye, ′cause somebody else is
Kissin' her, holdin' her, lovin′ her like you couldn′t do
So, if you're missin′ her, man, she ain't missin′ you
She ain't missin′ you
I hope her number's still in your phone
Yeah, I hope you try to call her late at night when you're alone
And she don′t answer ′cause she's with me
And we′re a little tied up if you know what I mean
I hate to break it to you
But she's movin′ on like you thought she'd never would
And if I′m bein' honest with you
When she's in my arms, she says it feels like it should
She′s been pickin′ up the pieces, puttin' you on a shelf
Ain′t thinkin' ′bout your goodbye, 'cause somebody else is
Kissin′ her, holdin' her, lovin' her like you couldn′t do
So, if you′re missin' her, man, she ain′t missin' you
She don′t wanna make up
She ain't hangin′ on
She don't even brin' your name up
(I hate to break it to you)
I hate to break it to you
But she′s movin′ on like you thought she'd never would
And if I′m bein' honest with you
When she′s in my arms, she says it feels like it should
She's been pickin′ up the pieces, puttin' you on a shelf
Ain't thinkin′ ′bout your goodbye, 'cause somebody else is
Kissin′ her, holdin' her, lovin′ her like you couldn't do
So, if you′re missin' her, man, she ain't missin′ you
(Brother, she ain′t missin' you)
She ain′t missin' you
Oh-oh, oh
The lyrics to Dylan Schneider's song "Ain't Missin' You" speak to the singer's satisfaction at seeing his ex-partner move on from their failed relationship. The opening lines express a sense of vindication and enjoyment in witnessing the ex's pain and regret. The singer hopes that the ex is feeling hurt, mad, and realizing that the singer was the best they ever had. The reference to them being drunk and unable to alleviate the pain suggests that no escape can erase the memories of the past few months.
The chorus emphasizes the idea that the ex does not deserve a second chance, while the girl mentioned in the song is not someone who can easily be loved and let go. The singer presents a contrast between the ex's missed opportunity and the girl's flourishing independence.
The second verse continues this theme, as the singer hopes the ex attempts to reach out in vain, only to find that the girl is now with them. The line "we're a little tied up if you know what I mean" hints at a physical relationship, further emphasizing the ex's loss.
Overall, "Ain't Missin' You" conveys a sense of satisfaction, empowerment, and triumph over a past relationship. It celebrates the singer's current happiness with the girl while reveling in the ex's apparent misery.
