Schneider was a fan of pop music and hip hop when he was a child, but later he was attracted to the narrative aspect of country music and began singing at age 14. After meeting Brett Eldredge at a concert in the singer's hometown (Paris, Illinois), Schneider was invited to the stage by Eldredge to perform a song during the latter's performance at Terre Haute. He then began writing and playing songs in both Indiana and Nashville, Tennessee. Between 2014 and 2016, Schneider published a series of videos on YouTube of him making versions of popular country songs, which earned him attention online. The first video was published on May 18, 2014.
Whole Town Talk

The only thing off they lips, the only thing on they mind
Is what we doin' way back in them woods
They say they gotta be up to no good
Yeah we get to pouring 'em strong
We get to singing them songs
Staying right in the middle of wrong
Words gonna get out 'bout the things we did
How we threw a party and somebody called the cops
We was only getting started so you know we didn't stop
Good girls gone bad, bad girls getting better
Whatever we want, yeah we do it whenever
When they open up their mouth, yeah you know what it's about
'Cause we the type of crowd come around shut it down
Make the whole town talk, make the whole town talk
Monday at 8 still talkin' bout last Friday night
Yeah we had too much to drink but had the time of our lives
Yeah we danced in the dirt, turned it up 'til it hurt
Now it's rumor has it have you heard
We make the whole town talk, paint the whole town red
Words gonna get out, 'bout the things we did
How we threw a party and somebody called the cops
We was only getting started so you know we didn't stop
Good girls gone bad, bad girls getting better
Whatever we want, yeah we do it whenever
Yeah they open up their mouth
Yeah you know what it's about
'Cause we the type of crowd, come around, shut it down
Make the whole town talk
Make 'em talk about us, talk, talk, make 'em talk about us
Make the whole town talk
Make 'em talk about us, talk, talk, make 'em talk about us
What you think they doing way out in that pasture
Same damn thing that we was doing last year
Yeah I guess we back here doing it again
Any time it's me and my friends
We make the whole town talk, paint the whole town red
Words gonna get out 'bout the things we did
How we threw a party and somebody called the cops
We was only getting started so you know we didn't stop
Good girls gone bad, bad girls getting better
Whatever we want, yeah we do it whenever
When they open up their mouth
Yeah you know what it's about
'Cause we the type of crowd come around shut it down
Make the whole town talk
Make the whole town talk
Make the whole town talk, yeah
Make 'em talk about us, talk, talk make 'em talk about us
Make 'em talk about us, talk, talk make 'em talk about us
Make the whole town talk
Make 'em talk about us, talk, talk make 'em talk about us
Make the whole town talk
Make 'em talk about us, talk, talk make 'em talk about us
The song Whole Town Talk by Dylan Schneider depicts the excitement that comes with being in a tight-knit community where people are always talking. The lyrics describe how people in the small town always talk about their weekend plans and past events, in particular the parties that take place in the woods. The party-goers know that they are the subject of everyone's rumors and gossip, but they revel in it. They enjoy making the whole town talk about them, even if it's not always for the right reasons.
The lyrics also allude to the fact that this sort of behavior is nothing new, as it has been happening for years. The party-goers acknowledge that they have been caught before and have paid the consequences, but they continue the cycle because it's what they enjoy doing. The song celebrates the freedom and rebellion that can come with youth, while also acknowledging that the consequences will eventually catch up with them.
Overall, Whole Town Talk is a catchy tune that highlights the thrill and excitement that comes with being young and adventurous in a close-minded small town. It speaks to the idea that sometimes people need to create their own entertainment, regardless of how others might perceive it.
