Àfrica
E-Type Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I will follow the road down to Africa
If that's what it takes just want you to know

I can't stop myself cause it all went through my head and
Now it's falling apart
takes my breath away I just need another day or two
I'm back at the start
Wherever I might go tonight
Why go away, when you won't last for a day
But I know I will be alright
Whatever, if I can make you stay

I will follow the road down to Africa
I just want to see
If it's really you and me
I will follow the road down to Africa
If that's what it takes, just want you to know

Round and round we go time must come to make a
choice is this how I want to live
Still don't know what's on when I woke up to the edge
I must learn how to forgive

Wherever I might go tonight
Why go away, when you won't last for a day
But I know I will be alright
Whatever, if I can make you stay

I will follow the road down to Africa
I just want to seeI
f it's really you and me
I will follow the road down to Africa
If that's what it takes, just want you to know

Uuuuumm ba taja Uuuuumm ba taaa
Umbat ta come tala mej "Oweej oweej"
Umbat ta come tala meja "Oweej oweej"
Umbat ta come tale mej "Oweej oweej"
Umbat ta come tale meja "Oweej oweej"

I will follow the road down to Africa
I just want to see, if it's really you and me
I will follow the road down to Africa
I just want to see, if it's really you and me
I will follow the road down to Africa
If that's what it takes just want you to know

Overall Meaning

In "Africa," E-Type feat. Na Na explore themes of longing, forgiveness, and self-discovery while referencing the idea of traveling to Africa. The song's opening lines, "I will follow the road down to Africa, If that's what it takes just want you to know," signal the singer's willingness to embark on a journey for love or personal growth. However, the subsequent lyrics reveal a sense of confusion and uncertainty, as the singer admits to struggling with forgiveness ("I must learn how to forgive") and feeling stuck in the past ("Now it's falling apart, takes my breath away I just need another day or two, I'm back at the start").

The chorus repeats the line "I will follow the road down to Africa," suggesting a sense of determination despite the singer's inner struggle. The use of the chant "Umbat ta come tale mej 'Oweej oweej'" adds to the song's African-inspired mood.

Overall, "Africa" is a song that speaks to the complexity of the human experience, highlighting the tension between our desire for growth and our propensity to get stuck in cycles of pain and regret. The reference to Africa could be interpreted as a metaphor for the unknown and the possibility of finding clarity or a new sense of self in a faraway place.

Nana Hedin- The Best

@cyber_cober6679

I was in the army when I first heard this song on the radio. Love the memories it brings from the barracks and brigade I served in. The song ran through my head when we marched in the woods and country roads in full gear, and I was completely exhausted and tired but damn, this makes me memorize the march as an experience that I can't ever forget :) Thanks Kajaani 2/17 1.
