Highway
E.K. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm living life my way because my life feels like a highway
I'm living out my days I can't deal with myself
I'm living life my way because my life feels like a highway
I'm living out my days I can't deal with myself

Don't know where I'm going or what I'm gonna do
Shit haven't felt the same since I finished high school uh
Had to take it easy, stop and hit my fucking Juul uh
I found a nice girl so I stopped acting like a tool
Just quit my job the other day, that shit was fucking killing me
Threw my apprenticeship down the drain
But now nothings stopping me
Dealing my cards of my life like I'm playing monopoly
But now my music is the only thing starving me

I'm living life my way because my life feels like a highway
I'm living out my days I can't deal with myself

I'm living life my way because my life feels like a highway
I'm living out my days I can't deal with myself

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in E.K.'s song "Highway" delve deep into a personal journey of self-discovery and coming to terms with the challenges of life. The repetition of the lines "I'm living life my way because my life feels like a highway" emphasizes the feeling of being on a constant, fast-paced journey with no clear destination in sight. This metaphor of life as a highway suggests a sense of uncertainty and unpredictability, where the singer is navigating through the twists and turns of their own existence.

The mention of feeling lost and unsure about the future is captured in the line "Don't know where I'm going or what I'm gonna do." This sentiment is further highlighted by the reference to the singer's struggle after finishing high school, a period often marked by confusion and transition. The use of colloquial language, such as mentioning hitting a Juul (a popular e-cigarette), adds a modern and relatable touch to the lyrics, showcasing the singer's attempt to cope with the pressures and uncertainties of life.

The decision to quit a job that was causing distress reflects a pivotal moment of reclaiming agency and prioritizing personal well-being. The act of throwing away a previous apprenticeship and taking control of one's life choices shows a sense of rebellion and a refusal to be confined by societal expectations. The reference to finding a "nice girl" and shedding former negative behaviors implies a sense of growth and maturity, as the singer strives to improve themselves and their relationships.

The concluding lines of the song draw attention to the role of music as a source of solace and passion amidst the tumultuous journey of life. The declaration that "now my music is the only thing starving me" conveys a sense of dedication and hunger for creative expression, suggesting that despite the challenges and uncertainties faced, the singer finds purpose and fulfillment in their artistic endeavors. Overall, "Highway" captures a raw and introspective exploration of navigating through life's uncertainties, finding one's own path, and embracing the journey with resilience and determination.

I am Japanese. I was born and raised in Osaka.
I rarely see racers in Osaka these days, but I'm glad that Japanese cars are racing overseas :)

@pauldiesel

❤️ Japan needs to reclaim street racing

@danzo5521

@@danzo5521
Recently I see a few racers on Touge.

I don't know because I didn't go to Touge at midnight when I was a kid, but at that time there were many 80supra, R34, RX-7, etc. running in the city.
It's about 2000s.

I found a video of this year's Osaka.
