Plus another $10-$20 for fittings for the radiator. I personally would just pay the extra 60 ish bucks for the Phoenix equivalent in open loop parts but I can see how paying over 25% more in parts would push some towards the phoenix.

While its nice to have the expandability to me this kind of performance at such a price premium is very disappointing. Performs in line with any other Asetek AIO without even introducing the GPU block. And it requires yearly maintenance. At this price, if you want better cooling, I think you´ll be best aiming higher for an EK Liquid Cooling kit, which will give a good temp advantage vs the AIO market.

I have a EK Predator, the 360. When the recall came in, I returned it for the newer model and have been using the new model for some time. Never had a leak with either version. Quite happy with the performance.

Bought the 360 version and using Phanteks Glacier 350i as my waterblock with Castrol radicool as coolant. So far, performance has been perfect. No leakage issues yet and hopefully
none for the rest of its service life. Cools my 8700K[overclocked to 5.1GHz] pretty well @34C idle . It's pretty quiet except few seconds on boot. Spent about 300€ for this setup.

That pump looks like an SPC-60, I have two of them, they're nice cheap pumps (about €60 for a stand alone pump) and great for basic loops. I tried it on a 240mm rad, CPU, VRM and GPU full cover block and while it worked, it has some serious head pressure and bleeding issues. Flow rate was pretty ok for the price. Compared to my D5 pump, the SPC-60 has a slightly higher pitched pump whine, both of them that is too. But it was a lot louder than the D5. The D5 had almost no pump whine but some vibrations, so while the whine was less, they where about the same noise level.

It would be nice to see a comparison between this cooling a CPU and GPU and then one of the EK Fluid Gaming systems cooling the same thing.

Actually, perhaps a 3-way EK shootout (#Sponsored?) would be good. Grab this cooling a CPU/GPU, a Fluid Gaming kit, and then EK's P360 kit (or whatever has a similar thickness radiator). Three different approaches/materials to cooling the same items from the same manufacturer I would find really interesting.

I have a Swiftech H220x2 on my cpu. its an expandable cooler like this. its a revision of the old h220 that had issues like the predator. It works fantastic, I've never measured its loudness obviously but I myself cannot hear it even without headphones on. It was $150 +/- and performs VERY well.

I might end up getting this plus a GPU block for a Fractal R6 build. I priced out a similar open loop and the Pheonix would still be $250 less ($425 vs around $675.) The only benefits of the open loop I see is that I can add another 360mm radiator in the future and it simply looks better.

Had a thought, what if you oriented one of the fans in a push config rather than a pull? I don't think it would increase cooling, just noticed it's either or, not both.

it would probably make more sense to use a kraken or comparable closed loop AIO, and use one of these as a separate loop for a gpu to keep complexity down.

The main advantage I see with this cooler is the flexibility it offers when upgrading cpu's in the future - the fact that you can switch out just the block instead of buying a new AIO even if you want to go from intel to amd etc. could be a huge money saver if you're willing to put in the initial investment and not wanting to get into custom loops. (That is, if they continue to support future cpu's from both companies)

Man, I am still torn on whether or not to go with this, or just pick up a considerably cheaper EVGA CLC 280, or Corsair H150i. As I have read, this is a thicker, copper rad, instead of the aluminum rad with copper blocks like asetek AIOs, but now I just need to find out if it will fit in my specific configuration

EK has a starter open loop that's not to much more expensive. Plus it gives the option of colored fluid or a UV reactive agent for a much cleaner and must custom look.

Been running a predator 360 with both an OC'd 5960x and a titan xm for a couple of years now(I think I got one of the last 360's that made it out to Australia) and haven't had an issue with leakage. That said I'm kinda thinking about grabbing one of these new phoenix 240/80's and using it for the GPU.

Honestly if they solved the leak issue, I could see this being used in a prosumer computer more than anything. Like this would be golden for streamer or content creator who wants the cooler system without the hassle and maintenance of an open loop. The main issue with open loops (coming from someone who maintains 2 of them) is just how timely they are to maintenance. It would be a lot easier to liquid cool a HEDT cpu and high end gpu with this than either 2 aio's or a full open loop. The only thing that really hurts this is the 2 year warranty vs the 5+ a lot of aio's have.

Also that blue bar is pretty nice, but maybe make it a bit narrower as it was cutting off letters.

A small suggestion for the sidebar which ticks down at the charts; if you have a segment which contains multiple charts, I believe if you want to make clear to viewers there are back-to-back charts, the bar for remaining time should be split in half, with one side being current remaining and total remaining for all charts which proceed one after the other.

I mean the predator was a proper open loop. You can reuse the components however you need so it's price was more justified. This one is a closed off version of that, no more fittings so you can't do whatever you want in the end. To be fair that's to limit the leak points not to DRM the shit out of the product.... But still.

So I actually bought this for my build in a NZXT H700i, without looking to see how thick the rad/pump combo ends up being. The only position it fit where the hoses could reach the CPU was in the front of the case with the pump at the top. This is supposedly a supported way of using the cooler, but there was so much audible gurgling from the pump it me doubt it was actually usable in that configuration. Long story short, this rad is THICK. Take note of this when buying it to ensure you don't have to pay a restocking fee, like I did.

Where would you mount this in a Fractal R6 Define case assuming it was covering the GPU too? I'd imagine the front mount is best for cold air intake, but with the front panel closed it might not give the best airflow compared to the top mount. Top mount would give less "cold" air temps given the VRM's and other heat producing pieces on the mobo, but the overall air intake would be unimpeded northbound.

Was thinking that was a DDC and found your complaints about whine a bit curious. Turns out it's apparently not? A bit sad especially considering the expandability potential. Would still recommend a proper custom loop kit over this for beginners I think.

Always get a bit divided when it comes to this type of products, same with EK's aluminium line. On the one hand, they're easier and cheaper. But on the other you lose some of the stuff that makes custom loops actually nice. In the cas of the Al loops, you're tied to that one line in this one... Maybe I just don't like this pump. Can you replace the tubing? Because at least you can buy a QDC from EK if you want to expand that way. Makes me think of the Alphacool GPX blocks with the built-in pump. THIS might be a really interesting option since your restriction becomes less of an issue. Saw on their website they have a TR4 block for this kit. Given this is a loaner kit I don't think you guys will, but if you ever get interested in trying for a bit more content related to this sort of product, that is a semi-custom loop I'd be interested in seeing some performance numbers, with the additional GPU block in

It's the exact same thing as the be quiet silent loop 360 in which alphacool is the oem. Just now they're just sticking their own name on on their own product, crappy DC-LT 2600 pump and all.

So it still falls behind some coolers while being fairly more expensive. I had hoped it would give me a reason to upgrade from my H240-X, but price-to-performance doesn't seem all that great. Besides the fact that their GPU blocks are super expensive and don't fully cover 3rd party cards.

There is a small gap creating air impedance as the air collides with the radiator. A tiny but measurable effect on many radiators.

Had the original predator myself cooling a titan xp and 6800k. It leaked but thankfully components survived. EK were great with return.

Provided you have the money, all at once for a loop which fits your needs. However, what would incentivize people to stick with EK is if they bought this, they should get a limited discount on components which add onto it so at least there is some justification for that price tag.

Had to return mine for a pump failure after a week. Then 2 of 3 new fans broke after a month. Also something was inside the new radiator and got caught though the fins of the gpu block. I tought this to be a quality product for almost 400 bucks. Can't deny it performs good if you can get over the rattling noise of the dying vardars and the crippling whine of the pump.

true about vardars. They are great performers but ffs, they are so inconsistent in quality and noise.
I bought 5 of those few years ago, 2 of em were noisy, got free replacement - and 1 of em still was noisy. 2 years later few of previously silent Vardars suddenly became noisy.
Gave up on em and went with Noisblockers E-Loop

Probably a bum unit. Also, first rule of watercooling isn't to fill and test your loop, but rinse your components before initial testing so debris inside your loop are removed prior to use. But you would think at the price EK asks they'd do that for you...

if it was cost just slightly more compared to a top end corsair id buy it but for soo much more the quick disconects are not worth it. like if a corsair is 100-130 and ek added disconnect aio's where say 10-20 more thats a manageable extra cost.

Strangely the EK-MLC Phoenix 360 is End of Life already on EKs website. The 140, 240 and 280 are still sold so maybe a demand issue on the 360?

I am really happy with my H115iV2 but have to say: I did not like the fans. Mine where somewhat out of balance and rather noisy. I replaced them with a couple of Noctua 140mm industrial 2000pwm fans and it works great.

I have a 100+ watt (10 amps) 120mm fan. Is it overkill?
Powered by a race quadcopter motor using a fan I blew up over-volting. I'm a bit disappointed its not in the 15 amp range, but the blades are expanding hitting the housing from the speed if you push much over 120w. I may have to put my higher powered 35 amp motors in it, but I'll have to sand down the blades a lot. MORE POWER!!!

I got H115iV2 wit the Noctua industrial 3000 rpm the extra power is not need so your better off with the 2000rpm as you can control the speed better.

True, but for me it's enough. During normal usage I rarely get temps above 30C. During gaming max 40C and when rendering video (100% load) it rises to only 55C which is totally acceptable for me, considering it's an 6900K @ 4.2Ghz

I'm cooling 6 GPUs plus a CPU, have redundant pumps (double the D5 pumps in power, each), and it was under $200 + rad (I'm going with a copper radiator from a school bus that heats the passengers, or a car radiator, already have both). I'll be using anti-freeze, you can get away with mixed metals for a while (I water cooled my tablet with rusty steel piping, and copper block, it takes 2 days with distilled water to become unusable, yet its been over a year with antifreeze and its fine).

RiffsNReviews if i remember well the predator even though expensive it was cheaper than that. if you can do a custom loop it would be much better you will get better pump , serviceable reservoir , you can add valve for easy drain, use your favorite fans and options go on and on, but I guess there is a place for products like this for people who do not want to mess around with building a loop, they just need to get the price down.

EK-MLC is basically a slightly cheaper to produce predator that doesn't use custom loop fittings to both save costs and prevent moron installations.

Wow ... you really don't like the Eisbaer :) My 420 was under $300 and that was with the GPU block as well. That includes copper radiator and dual redundant pumps since both blocks have pumps; not sure if that nullifies the anemic pump on the CPU block :( The fans are probably bad, but they work and are fairly quiet. Thanks as always for not pulling punches! And a hey to snowflake and midnight; if I remember the other cats name!

I assume at that pricec point that the radiator is copper? Whereas most radiators in similar configurations are going to be aluminum, thus the cost difference.

So EKWB's open loop kit, the L360 is $259.99 US, sop open loop for $20 cheaper than this. So you are basically spending more for convenience.

I stopped buying new gpu's a few years ago. 1080p gaming is good enough for me and my cheap, 2nd hand gtx 780 does just fine. Regarding prices, it's all about supply and demand.

I remember paying $850 for my EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 HYBRID GAMING Graphics Card. I have not kept up with PC parts since my build in December. All of a sudden, they are at ridiculous prices.

Joe, thank you for the honest reply. AIO coolers are easy to use and have their place in the market. I went for a custom CPU loop, maintenance is a downside, but I got used to it.

numbrotzy I went worth the 280mm ek-mlc myself because I don’t want to deal with the hassle of custom watercooling. I like to just plug and go. Shit, I didn’t even plug it. Had my Pc built. But I don’t want to deal with constant draining and maintenance of custom water cooling. AIO works well. I highly recommend it. I would of got the biggest one but it wouldn’t have fit in my case

Good luck trying to run a 1080ti on a single 360mm rad with a 6600k overclocked to 4.5 with a 1.32 Vcore i tried this config on a single 360mm rad the temps were at 85C adding another 240mm rad to it dropped the temps to 70c. so there for a 1080ti with this config is NOT recommended.

John Chambers yeah, I wouldn’t cool anything but the cpu with it. I got the 280mm version and I honestly have zero plans of adding anything else to it. I would have opted for a complexity closed ek closed loop AIO but there is none. My 1080ti has its own AIO and fan so I’m Gucci.
