Theme
E.R Lyrics

I've got a hat the size of Oklahoma
Put on my boots and going down to Walter's
Get me some barbecue
Bring some home to the misses
He'll give you a bag to put it in
This is David, signing off
The lyrics to E.R.'s song "Theme" are actually quite simple, but they serve as a perfect example of the way in which lyrics can be interpreted in different ways by different people. Essentially, the song is about a man named David who is headed to a place called Walter's to get some barbecue. Along the way, he talks about his hat (which is apparently quite large), his boots, and his desire to bring some food home to his wife or girlfriend. The song is very folksy and upbeat, with a simple guitar melody that provides the perfect backdrop for David's story.
One interpretation of the lyrics could be that they're simply about a guy who likes barbecue and wants to share it with the people he loves. The song could be seen as a celebration of the simple pleasures in life, and the joy that comes from sharing those pleasures with others. Alternatively, the song could be read as a commentary on masculinity and the way in which men often express their affection through acts of provision - in this case, bringing barbecue home for his partner.

My 15 years and counting career in the medical field as a pediatrician is a result of my fascination for this classic TV drama series...
@danielabercrombie4990
ER, House MD, and Rescue 911 were the best medical shows ever on TV.

I remember my mom had me watching this with her along with my siblings on NBC and telling us "Shhhh my show is on"! Growing up in the #90s and #00s was awesome

me too.. I guess cuz my mom's a nurse..but I liked the show regardless as a child at the time. the intro music really was always favorite part tho

My mother was (and still is) a big fan of the series. The show was running originally at 8 PM, and it was the only way for me not to go sleep at 8 as a kid, as she allowed me to watch it. Eventually I grow up enough for it to not be the reason, but I kept watching it regardless. Just because it's simply a good series. No medical drama ever before or after reached this potential.

Nicholas Langley YEAH!! Growing up the beginning of the theme used to make me nervous- Because I would think 'Oh no its the hospital!!!' and as the show went on, I had a slight interest because John Stamos was on it. 12 when the show ended- and now I wish I would have watched and paid attention when my mom watched it!!!
