The group was formed in 2000 by brothers Helmut and Franz Vonlichten. Helmut and Franz studied piano with their mother. After graduating from high school, Franz worked in recording studios while Helmut attended and graduated from UCLA, with a degree in archaeology. Their music has been licensed by many movie and television production studios, being included in numerous movie trailers and television shows. E.S. Posthumus released three albums overall in their career.
On July 22, 2010, it was officially announced that Franz died about two months before. After giving notice of his brother's death, Helmut stated that while there still may be one or two unreleased songs (One of them being their single "Christmas Eve" released in November 2010), the group would no longer be active. In November 2011, it was officially announced that Helmut Vonlichten has formed a new band called Les Friction, and released a preview at his new work with a track called "Torture".

The lyrics of E.S. Posthumus's song Marunae are a mix of sacred and mysterious words in different languages. The first verse, which includes phrases such as "Ana Pele" and "Tela Promis," is believed to be in ancient Phoenician language. The phrase "Nova, Konta me Fe si kile" translates to "New, count with me if there is any fear." The next line "Sacra... Di o in ti mo" is in Latin, which means "Sacred... tell me your name."
The second verse includes words in Sanskrit, a classical language of India, and is equally enigmatic. "Mola Khana" and "Muneree" are believed to be names of deities or places. "Sada Fata" has been interpreted as "the gate of truth." The second half of the verse again includes Latin words with a similar meaning to the previous line "Sacra... Di o In ti Mo."
Overall, the lyrics of Marunae are cryptic and open to interpretation. They seem to draw from different ancient languages and cultures, adding to the mystique of the song. The song's overall tone is of spiritual or mystical significance, with the lyrics inviting the listener to participate in a sacred ritual of some kind.

Woah the singing suprised me for a second, then gave me an eargasm nice voice goes very well with the expressive music and smooth rhythm. One thing i never get though is the people singing in these songs... i mean they are, like, real people... right? or is it like a vocaloid?

I know right! It's all about popularity these days. They get one good song in then they just churn out the auto tuned crap. And people buy it even though it sucks, just because the singer is popular or because he had 1 good song. Thats why I like vocaloids, the creaters of the music are just people who enjoy music and talented musicians who want to express themselves. ^.^
