Phone Call
E.S of the S.M Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don't ask why, I just fall into the meadow
I close my eyes , and wait to die
Yes, I am a liar
Yes, I am a sinner
Please forgive my broken soul

But I've got nowhere else to go
They made the world so hard
If I had somewhere else to go
I could be a star like you
Special like you
A star like you
Special like you

And all those picture frames surround you
I saw you in France
All those busters hang around you
I asked you to dance
I can't take you home tonight
No, I can't be your man
I know why you here tonight
You in a fight with your man

But I've got nowhere else to go

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Phone Call" by E.S. of the S.M. express a sense of hopelessness and despair. The singer is admitting to being a liar and a sinner and asking for forgiveness for their broken soul. They have nowhere else to go and seem resigned to their fate, even waiting for death with their eyes closed.

The singer then acknowledges the world as a hard place that has made it difficult for them to succeed. They express a desire for success and celebrity, wishing they had somewhere else to go and be a star like the person they are singing to. The singer recognizes the other person's success, referencing picture frames and people who want to be around them. They offer sympathy for the person's troubles with their significant other, unable to provide a solution but empathizing with their pain.

The song seems to express a sense of longing for something better and a recognition of personal failure. The singer wishes for the kind of success that seems just out of reach and acknowledges their own shortcomings. The phone call may represent the only connection or source of comfort for the singer, highlighting their isolation.

Thanks for reaching out, we can help.

Airplane Mode is designed to turn off all wireless communication from the device to prevent interference with the systems that operate an aircraft, and it is an all-or-nothing feature so you won’t be able to pick and choose which line to turn off.

That said, you can customize how your two lines behave so you can avoid unexpected charges. Check out this article to learn more about customizing your separate cellular lines: https://s.apple.com/dE4b0u4A8v

@applesupport

Hi there. Those are great questions! We can help you.

You can use one number at a time for cellular data and change the phone number which uses cellular data if you choose.

You can also customize which phone number you’d like to use as your default telephone number. When you call one of your contacts, your iPhone will remember which phone number you’ve used previously to call that contact and will use that number each time you call that contact. Check out this resource under “Use two phone numbers for calls, messages, and data” which explains in detail how these features work: https://s.apple.com/dE4b0u4A8v

You can manage settings for each of your lines, including whether the line is switched On or Off, with the following steps:

1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap either Cellular or Mobile Data.
3. Tap the number you want to change.
4. Tap each option and set it as you normally would.

Be great if you could set up a time/date schedule of when a sim/line opens and closes….for example business line 7am till 7pm.

@AR-gn4xh

@@vashonm More so for receiving calls if you're using a personal phone with a business line on the esim. Being able to set a schedule would be really convenient.

This dual e-sim on 14 Pro did NOT come in handy at all while I was traveling throughout Central America. 😂 The old dual method e-sim and sim slot on my sisters iPhone 12 Pro did come in handy though. I guess it all depends on the region of travel.

@jackster1212

Great feature, great video... but I'm a little confused about how to use this setup properly when I have mobile numbers in two different countries. We fly back and forth from the EU a lot and use this to switch between local lines while in transit. I only want to use the US line while in the US, so it's no problem. But my wife says that people sending her Messages in the EU get a notice that her line isn't working while she's in the States. Is there a way to keep her EU line open without incurring data roaming charges while Stateside? I hope that question is clear...

@applesupport

Thanks for reaching out. We’re happy to assist.

If you don’t want to be charged while you’re roaming, you can simply turn the international line off to avoid it. Just go to Settings > Cellular, select the phone number then turn it off. This just turns the phone line off, but doesn’t affect your actual cellular plan. You can turn the line back on whenever you want to.
