The problem with the martingale system is the house limit - you are more likely to hit it with a run of loses than win.

On all even bets (the one he was searching for was low 1-18 or high 19-36) your chance of winning is 18/38 (< 1/2) so you are being underpaid.

There is a complete analysis of Roulette in Scarne's "Complete guide to gambling" which shows your net expectation is negative - ie in the long run you will end up with less money; the odds are fixed in favour of the house (operator).

Interestingly it is actually possible to win at roulette but it requires quite a bit of computing power to work out in which group of numbers the ball is likely to end up (with a better than 50% accuracy) - there is a story of a croupier who could almost (if not) always hit a specific number (likely 0). Have a look at "The Newtonian Casino".

Also every (roulette) wheel has a bias which can be discovered with enough statistics; casinos know this and rotate (sic) their wheels.

The only casino game where the odds do sometimes favour the player is Black Jack. This is demonstrated in the film Rain Man, but card counting is frowned upon by casinos and you'll be asked to leave and not return if detected.

Better strategy

Table games at casinos where I have frequented in years past have typically been streaky.
So, getting on long losing streak is not uncommon.
Your method would end most amateurs nights early, and spoil their vacations before they see the fountains at BELLAGIO.
A better approach is the one calling for patience.
First find a single 0 roulette wheel.
Decide how you plan to bet, and stick with it, even or red or first eighteen.
Then, minimum bets only, until you win three in a row.
After you win three in a row, then double next bet, then double every other bet as your win streak continues.
This will allow you to max out a really lucky day, yet never put you at risk of losing the farm.
Every time you lose, you start over.

On a fair 00 wheel, you will always lose in the long run. In the short run, it is possible to come out ahead because of a large volatility (standard deviation) in the results. A casino would love to see all roulette players use your system because a lot of larger bets will eventually be made. The casino is in it for the long haul and the house knows they have an edge of 5.26% on every single bet, and keep an aggregate of 5.2631578947368% of all money bet over time, including your money. There are exactly zero professional roulette players. My advice? Bet low, play slow, enjoy the comped drinks and the company, and hope to win.

The house advantage at roulette is over 5% no matter what number or color you bet on or method you use. However using basic strategy at the blackjack table, the house advantage is less than 1%. Baccarat is even simpler and gives you much better odds than roulette. Craps is also good odds. This video is actually pretty good, and interesting, but the method probably would not work in the long term

The fundamental problem with any Martingale system: every roulette wheel has a betting limit, a ceiling. If you catch 8 red's, or 8 low's, or 8 even's in a row, you lose it all with no chance to catch up. The whole problem: the odd's of 8 or 9 in a row of any binary choice is very low, but it happens and that will wipe out your winnings.

if you wait for 2 or 3 or 4 red /or/ 2 or 3 or 4 black in a row before you start your betting you'll get into the 10th and 11th chance/bet ,, but i agree with you these long runs still happen all the time ... i personally have only seen a 11 in a row once in my 200 or so hours of playing roulette , but i can only imagine they actually happen multiple times on every table every single day we're just not there to witness it , so it's still just luck if it works in your favor

FYI, you can use a spouse or friend to override take limits. Just have them bet the necessary amount for you. It usually only gets you 1 or 2 more spins though...

A good strategy encompasses , : sufficient bankroll enough to cover expected / calculated loss sequence & recovery, a betting algorithm (eg: red-red-black -black etc) , a staking system ( Martingale not recommended ! ) with a recovery mechanism ( you need to be right on top the maths ! ) , and a stop-loss point that is (hopefully) based on a acceptable percentage of winnings/profit attrition.

The martingale system is best played if you double your bet after you win not after a loss, I'm my opinion. If you make 3 consecutive losses followed by 3 consecutive wins using a negative martingle you win 3 units. If the same happens with a positive martingale you win 4 units. It's much better to play positive expecting win then play expecting to lose. let's say your first 5 spins are a win you would win 31 units with a positive martingale compared to just 5 with a negative martingale

@Akash Shah Just double your bet after a win and not a loss. If you are flat betting 5 units after each win and you have 4 consecutive wins you will win 20 units. If you bet 5 units and double after each win and have 4 consecutive wins you will win 75 units.

The chances of not hitting your colour 7 times in a row are in fact high if you play regularly. Happens to me at least once a day. Once I even got 9 losses in a row, so you gotta decide when your loss stop would be before you start the next round of Martingale.

The biggest problem with this is that I was at MGM in Detroit and I sat there and watched a whole bunch of folks lose serious money as black hit 17 times in a row! It was very sad seeing people just abandoning caution and putting all there money on red saying "It has to hit!!!" In that short sequence that casino cleaned out a bunch of folks. That was the last time I ever assumed anything HAS to hit at a casino.

I think the odds of a repeat of odd or even and/or red or black goes like this: Every 121 spins an even money proposition is likely to repeat 8 times in a row once. This comes out to.48% probability, less than 1/2 of 1%.

I did this once, and only once, and lost 5 times in a row. The min bet was $5 and the max was $100. I had to have my wife bet $80 and myself bet $80 for the last time. At that point there was a 50/50 chance I was going to lose $325. Thankfully I didn't lose 6 in a row.

I've also have came up with this on my own when I was younger. I've learn in middle school about chances. this is basically a 50/50 coin flip, meaning out of 10 flips you would most likely hit heads or tails half the time. and by doing so everytime you double your bet..u are sure to at least land on one that will gain all ur money back. but once you win. u must go back to 10 dollar bets until u lose

It is mathematically impossible to win at roulette.
Most systems depend upon increasing the stakes after each loss. This will work in theoretical. But in practise you will be limited by how much you can stake at a table. Tables have a minimum bet and a maximum bet.
Typically you will see minimum of £1 and a maximum of £100 so I you double your bet every time you lose, it only takes eight losers to go over the limit. That will happen quite often and this is why the casinos have these limits.

I find it better to bet on the 3 sections or 3 rows. You can use a modified martingale system and not have to double your bet every loss since a win is 2 to 1. Another strategy I've seen others play is betting on 2 of the 3 sections which gives you better odds, but getting only 1 to 1 on a win since you lose one bet. You can also stay on a table for a very long time which is great if you're earning comps.

lol this is what I use one section with high value and the other pays my loss back and every time I lose the one section I didn't have I accept it and change my bets with 10% extra. so 1st to 12 had 34% change in 1000 bets, 2nd to 12 had 32% change and 3rd to 12 had 32% chance I will bet on the 2nd and 3rd row. so basically I look at rows that didn't throw that often, and I know 1000 is too little to bring the chances even. Honestly I've just been betting on just the hot numbers and I've been coming out ahead. I walked up to the roulette table with $30 and got it up to $300 betting with only the 5 hot numbers. And 24 black was hot on my table too the same as it was here. About every 5 spins or so I would win and I won $36 so it didn't take me too long to rack up some cash. It's just so crazy how certain numbers will repeat themselves.

I would advise if you lose 4 in a row, sit out for a while. Recently I've seen black come out 16 times in a row; at the time I was betting on black so hooray. Last time I was betting on red (since it was the hot color) and black came out 8 times in a row, 9th time was the Green 0, and wiped out my $345 profit.

12 years ago, I read a system where you use an online casino, and you keep spinning the roulette wheel without betting. You wait until you get so many of one color in a row (I think it was 8 or 9) and then you start betting on the other color using the martingale system. I did that, and it continued to roll the same color. I think it was up to 15 in a row, and my bets were getting too high. I was just losing. I'm pretty sure the online casino was cheating.

To be honest I think it’s easier to play the rigged non dealer ones it’s based on luck how much money is put in and a pattern usually that isn’t disturbed unless something is tampered with I.e money in or someone weirdly switching up the pattern. Walked in with 20 and out with 190 within 20 min

It works! Until it doesn't. The chances of losing 8 in a row are slim, but sooner or later it WILL happen. And doubling your bet every time, it doesn't take long to drop like a lead weight. The only thing I can recommend is, bet small stakes, play for a bit of fun, stop when you've lost your pocket money, and leave it a while before you play again. I made £10 last weekend, and another £10 today. I'll probably play again next weekend. Who knows I might lose. But I only play to win or lose a maximum £10.

After 15y, now and then playing, I just wanted to say, you can't believe how much I have seen 9 or even 11 times in a row the same number 😳
I use more or less your system, but on many locations.
Usually, the last 1/3, uneven and red with 10€ chips and in the meanwhile my favorite numbers with 2,5€ chips.
My "real-world" conclusion over all those years?
More or less break-even, I think a little loss, like 1500€ over 15y, which is acceptable for have 100ths of hours fun.
This can be 1 day losing 600€ and another gaining 800€.
Biggest losses is the wine I drank in the meanwhile 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

I watched 3 asian co-workers win, doubling their money. One of them played the 1st 2nd and 3rd row, placing bets of equal size on 2 of them, he was the most stable. The other 2 threw bets all over, one covering the end 12 numbers, the other the middle 12 numbers. These 2 started losing, then their luck turned and they doubled their original investment, in their case all 3 walked out making over $300 in about 2 hrs. They did tell me it doesn't always work out. This is a fact. People have trouble understanding math, but this “system” changes nothing. Each bet is a brand new bet and has the exact same odds of winning. Martingale works better if you only double a few times and after that just flat bet the same top bet of the Martingale until you win. If you just go back to the low bet after several doubles, all is lost. It would still work out even in the long run, if there were no zeros, but in the short term you will be ahead. Maybe try it at BetVoyager with no zero, but they take 10% of your winnings. Works out to a lot less than if there was a zero but it's still some.

I do see this working if you DID bet both red and black using this system. Yes you’d need a double bankroll but the chances of hitting green twice, three times in a row would be much higher than using his system. That way every roll except green would net you $10

I always feel it’s better to jump on a colour that beat you, then stick to that colour until it loses then jump to the other vice versa.. reason for this you have a chance of riding the same colour win streak

Wow thanks, this is really good for online roulettes, i just got 7 blacks then it hits a green, and 6 more blacks in a row then a red appears.

But i changed a bit. If it hits red once, i bet on black and if i lose, so then i stick with red

Not a very good idea, but what you can do to increase your odds tremendously is to wait for a series of same colors shown. I.E. 4-5 straight red or 4-5 straight black and start with this.

but consider this; why not also bet on red? if it comes up, you get your 10$ bet on red every turn until it turns up to black and you make back everything... then expand this consept to the even/odds and 1-18/19-32. i hope this system works, imma go try it out soon.

For a start the american roulette is the worst to play because of the double zero, an edge of 5.4% to the house instead of 2.7% in a single zero European wheel. Then he quickly reaches a stage just trying to win to break even. And last of all and most important is that long streaks of red or black happen all the time, more than seven rolls. And it's so painful to lose your last few big bets to wipe you out, when all you were trying to win was 10 dollars at the start of your sequence. The pressure on your last bet could give you a heart attack.

Dont follow this strategy once red or black hits or any outside bets keep it on the same one but if you loose twice you have restart but martingale after previous losses just have to be patient when you loose because they could also switch everytime which I hate red could hit many times just make $100 and have your self a break because in the long run you loose if you sit there for too long but if you have been playing roulette for a long time it will be easier for you to understand squenence. Each game have 1,6% chance of loosing 7 times in a row. This means if you play 1000 times you loose all your 1000$ on average 16 times at a cost of 16.000$.
There is a 47% chance of winning the first spin in each game meaning out of 1000 games you win 10$ 470 times, winning are 4700$. The rest of the games you break even and restart. End result a loss of 11300$

Losing streaks of 7 or more are common. I see it nearly every time I sit at a table for more than an hour. Martingale is the casino's favorite way to take your money. As you keep doubling up to chase a ten dollar win, they've got their eye on your $1000 bankroll - and sooner or later, they're going to get it. So enjoy that $50 win because tomorrow you're going to give it all back and then some.

Also, I have to say it's mind boggling to me that spins 3-7 are merely an attempt to break even while risking more and more of your bankroll. A better approach would simply be to set an acceptable stop loss (like $100-200) and walk away once you hit that. You might win, you might lose - but either way, it will only be a little. ;)

If you bet e.g $1 on dozen (1-12) then bet $2 on the (19-36) in the European wheel while applying the martingale strategy to cover up your losses and then use the paroli strategy to increase your earns is almost a perfect strategy tbh. Coz you’ve literally increased the odds in your favor, adding a negative and a positive progression at the same time.🤝

I did the math on this the odds of getting 7 in a row are 8 in 1000 which means 1 in every 125 games you will lose the $1000 if you could bring it to 8 it is much less riskier where it will happen once every 250 games so yes it significantly decreases you chances of losing but making $10 profit off risking $1000 is not reasonable

Edit: I misunderstood exactly what you were saying there. If you think this system is risking $1000 to win $10 you are looking at it from a completely different perspective than I.

Was at the casino last night and there were 11 reds in a row, 3 of them were back to back 27s. The guy who won on those 3 lost that all on the next spin, which obviously wasn't 27.

I created my own roulette algorythm and earn around 100 euros (or more, it depends) per day. I play 2 sessions per day. The lenght of each session is around 5-8 minutes. Great video by the way :)

This method still favors the casino 53/47.
If you wanna shift the odds in your favor just cover up 19 numbers with the same bet. The “odds” will be in your favor but with the payout being 1:35 and there being 38 numbers. The casino can still profit at the end of the night.

You forgot about the high and low lol... I don’t start betting until theirs a streak of 8 or more.. betting big at ten in a row. Basically an enhanced martingale because I see 7 in a row happen pretty often

I did this in a casino. I won 100 dollars but I was very lucky. I got 6 in a row of the same colour. So I would have either ended up down 1000 bucks or up 100 bucks depending on how the spin went. Seems too risky. I don't think you will win enough times to cover the big loss when it happens

I tried this before with low bets. Just for fun. And it worked for a while. Gained some (low) profits. But believe it or not, at one time I was betting on red, and the dealer kept spinning black and one or two zeros. So after that I had to stop for a while. The chance of you losing with this system is not very high but possible. So you also have to come up with other systems. For example systems where you bet on 2 out of 3 chance: rows or numbers. You bet with 20 and win 30. Something like that.

I usually look at the tree and I don't see "0 or 00" I play that table with a $400 stack of $10 and place one chip on each of the two numbers "0,00" and usually hit by the 9th roll.

0 2 14 23 35 4 16. Anytime the ball lands in that 6” slice you win. I also play 26 17 and 20...those 3 numbers come up fairly often for some reason. 2 weekends ago, I bought in for $200 and left 2 hours later with $3100 using that system.
