After Don Cherry's death in 1995, Eagle-Eye moved to Stockholm with his girlfriend, and he began to focus on songwriting. He soon recorded 'Desireless' (1997), and it became a hit across Scandinavia and the rest of Europe, with an American release coming in 1998. "Save Tonight" proved a major hit, and made Cherry into an international star. His second album came in 2000 (titled 'Living in the Present Future') and was remixed for the States (where it was released as 'Present/Future'), but it saw disappointing sales. Cherry's success has waxed and waned since his late 90s heyday
Up To You
Eagle-Eye Cherry Lyrics

Getting up with nothing to do
Don't know what street I lived on
And I'm not sure I ever knew
Well it goes on I've got more to tell
Can't promise you that it's all true
It's up to you to figure out
Now anxiety has arrested me
And it's hard to tell what gets me through
But I do recall many things I've seen
And worst of all I think it's true
It's up to you to figure out
Which part is true
Wish I would have stayed in bed that day
And this memory would be there to
Now I can't make it go away
And that's why it must be true
It's up to you to figure out
Which part is true
In Eagle-Eye Cherry's song Up To You, the lyrics describe a moment of disillusionment and confusion in downtown. The singer wanders around aimlessly, unsure of where they live or what they should do. The lyrics suggest that the singer has experienced some sort of trauma, as anxiety has taken hold and memories of disturbing things seen are recalled. The singer expresses a wish to forget these experiences, but acknowledges that they are unfortunately true and must be faced.
The repetition of the phrase "it's up to you to figure out which part is true" underscores the theme of uncertainty and ambiguity in the lyrics. The singer is unable to provide a clear narrative of what happened, leaving it to the listener to piece together the fragmented memories and determine what really occurred.
Overall, the lyrics of Up To You explore themes of trauma, memory, and uncertainty. The singer portrays a world that is confusing and difficult to navigate, suggesting that the truth is elusive and often painful.

Go on and close the curtains
'Cause all we need is candlelight
You and me, and a bottle of wine
Gonna hold you tonight, uh, yeah
Well, we know I'm going away
And how I wish, I wish it weren't so
So take this wine and drink with me
Let's delay our misery
Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I'll be gone
Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I'll be gone
There's a log on the fire
And it burns like me for you
Tomorrow comes with one desire
To take me away, oh, it's true
It ain't easy to say goodbye
Darlin', please, don't start to cry
'Cause, girl, you know I've got to go, oh
And, Lord, I wish it wasn't so
Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I'll be gone
Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I'll be gone
Tomorrow comes to take me away
I wish that I, that I could stay
But, girl, you know I've got to go, oh
And, Lord, I wish it wasn't so
Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I'll be gone
Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I'll be gone
Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I'll be gone
Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I'll be gone
Tomorrow I'll be gone
Tomorrow I'll be gone
Tomorrow I'll be gone
Tomorrow I'll be gone
Save tonight
Save tonight
Save tonight
Save tonight
Oh, that's right
Save tonight
Save tonight

This is it... the feelings you had when life was so much simpler. The entire Road Rash 64 soundtrack does that to me.

If only I had known just how good things were at the time, and how shit things would become.
